I'm 14, and so far, I'm allowed to watch what I want....My parents dont care much if it has lots of blood in it like Samurai X OAVs (best ones I've ever seen) Or if the content of the show is really crude like Excel Saga. Those anime are all 17+ and they dont care  As long as the anime doesn't have nudity, I'm allowed to watch it. So there isn't much of a line for me when it comes to anime. :D

i basically follow the same guideline, tons of blood and gore is all right, maybe some funny sexual humor, but no nudity, though i was allowed to watch cutey honey and bio hunter.

I thought I had it all covered until my mom walked in on me watching Hellsing.
Ha. I'm watching that on Action tonight. Never seen it before but it looks good.

It would depend entirely on my child, if I thought they couldn't handle it, then they wouldn't watch it.

I grew up in a house hold where I could watch just about anything with lots of violence and bad language, just no nudity.... Yeah I know...it don't make much sense.

I remember the first time I saw Urotsukidoji in college...I kept going WTF every 20 seconds or more. I remember asking the guy who showed it to me whe the good guy was going to show up. "That IS the good guy" he said....

Very true...and it's always amused me to no end, especially since my family (please bear in mind that I'm 17 and as such, I still live at home) and the families of most of my anime buddies are like that.

Its strange...my parents were not screening everything I used to watch when I was younger...they just took an active interest in what I was watching.

The story was different for my brother who is six years younger. They did not watch what he was watching as closely and as such, saw things at age 11 and 12 that I would not see until I was 17...

Anime is a medium in which anything can happen...it limits what occurs only to the writers and director's imaginations and I am greatful for that unique freedom. I however think that there are some things that younger viewers should not see. I am not talking about censorship... There will come a time when they will (and should) enjoy or learn from what they may see..... but for goodness sakes...let some of these kids grow up first and be a child for a while!!! You only get to go on that ride once!!

Indeed, innocence seems to be lost.
Kids go from being toddlers to trying to be Britney Spears and the latest rapper.
Wholly insane; kids nowadays aren't the same as in my years.
What is wrong with the world?
Although the "Yes, to gore and violence. No, to nudity." rule is idiotic.
I'd rather my child see the amount he should see at the appropriate age.
There's no need for a 5 year child to see men and women have sex...
But just a boob? Well, they need to know about the human anatomy anyhow.
No way in hell I'm telling my kids the "Mother Goose/We ordered you" tale.
The simple truth is all they need.
Just as it would be stupid to not let one's teenaged son/daughter see Akira.
Every age has its range, and I'm going by it.
Sure, I may be more "liberal" than my parents but ignoring common sense isn't part of the deal.
Don't want to one of those parents that completely destroy their offspring's lives...
Because they were too strict or too loose.
Moderation is key, as always.
Why hide your kid from the truth?
Plus with anime/manga I'm liberal as hell...
Just no extreme nakedness, cussing and violence.
