Going by the statement he made I'm guessing he doesn't like animation in general or doesn't like the "Fantasy" type settings. One thing that I would ask him about was what he thought was 'Dumb' about anime's in question. If he gives a general statment then its probably not his thing, if he gives specifics he just wasn't watching the right anime's.
And hey, maybe sports, talkshows and reality TV is more your brothers thing, we all got our tastes.

OMGWTFBBQ! WHO CARES!? It's like "OMG, someone doesn't like something I like!" Usually if I have my laptop, or someones at my house and my computers on, I'll go "check this out!", and show them an amv that I think would catch there interest. Generally the response is good, and I'd recommend maybe having your cousin(if it's that important to you) run into a time your watching some and maybe it'll catch his eye. That's happened to me a few times. Someone would walk in on me while I'm watching one(work, school, home) and someone would ask me what I'm watching, and I would give them the headphones and get usually good feedback.
If you want to get someone into anime, show them an AMV that you'll think they'll like. It's better than trying to get someone to sit down for 30+ minutes to watch a show/movie with ya. Trust me!

Agreed. AMVs are an asbolutely awesome way to expose anime. It's definitely sugar coating but hey it got a few (adult) friends into it.x_rex30 wrote:OMGWTFBBQ! WHO CARES!? I showed them the Linkin Park - Numb / Evangelion video and that sucked them right in. Hell, I learned about new anime just from watching AMVs myself and I've been into this for almost two decades now.

Well said. A friend and I got two other friends turned onto anime through those means. We watched AMV's during computer club and they had nothing better to do so they sat down and joined us.x_rex30 wrote:OMGWTFBBQ! WHO CARES!? It's like "OMG, someone doesn't like something I like!" Now I've got two extra people leeching off of me for anime.

Your nephew just isnt into any animation stuff don't try to convert him our anything if he doesn't want to watch anime fine. It kind of reminds me of my 13 year old brother he only likes few animes, FLCL, Zatch Bell, Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, all of the .hack// ones, Love Hina, and Inu Yasha he doesn't like any others (he hates Trigun and Initial D). Then again my brother is likes rap music and MCR, The Used, and Yellowcard, plays the guitar, makes a huge ass of himself in MMO's, super mean, and doesn't give a shit about what people say about him.

Wow, Edge your bro seems like an asshole with really inconsistent tastes. I mean FMA, but not Trigun. But then again I’ve never found much taste in rap. Take it from me I am a total ass.
How do you play the guitar and listen to mostly rap anyway?
As for this nephew its not a matter of conversion it’s a matter of insignificance.
When someone just wrights off something you care about as dumb without knowing jack about it, its rather unpleasant.
It frustrating to show someone why you like something when they don’t give it or you by implication the time of day.
