True enough. I haven't watched a lot of it... only fifteen episodes.x_rex30 wrote:Anyways I love the show naturally and I don't give into forced perceptions, or I don't get prepossessed about things. I look into it and make my own decision. People who shit talk the show generally haven't seen the show or haven't seen much of it....
However, I still don't like the show and will defend my dislike, because heck, it's fifteen episodes. It's a lot more episodes than what some other series have in total.
My chief general complaint is that it's a typical mindless shounen fighting show. Now, none of these things taken alone (or even together) would have turned me off on the show per se. (I know I watch a lot of typical mindless magical girl shows.) However, it just doesn't interest me. This is highly subjective, I admit, but Naruto is just not fun to watch for me.
Possibly this is because I haven't read the manga, and I'm not going to spend my money on something I won't enjoy. (Almost every Naruto fan I've met who bothers to explain why they like it has also read the manga, and has suggested that my non-enjoyment is tied to my non-manga-reading.)
Another reason could be that the characters, after fifteen episodes and ample time to give the ones introduced in the first three some personality, simply aren't interesting. When the ninja techniques have more character than the poeple who use them, there's something very wrong there. The show concentrates (in that fifteen episodes) on Naruto and Sasuke, which leaves Sakura, the somewhat less cliched character, in the background role of Sasuke Fanboy. (I'm not counting Kakashi, since he's supposed to be mysterious anyway, and thus his lack of character development can be excused.)
Many people say that if I watch all of the episodes, I'll like it. However, that would imply watching over a hundred episodes, and I simply don't have the time to do that, especially if I'm not going to enjoy it.
