Hi, I'm her friend in love with Yu-Gi-Oh and I agree with her point I've seen an episode in the Battle City arc when Malik, Jounouchi and Anzu get captured by the Rare Hunters and in the Japanese, You literally see Malik get the crap beaten out of him. It was totally sweet.
Why the stupid americans do the whole butchering is because Americans have different things that they tolerate in what is "apropreate" for kids. For example, in Digimon season 1, that wasn't Sora's cousin, it was a random guy.
Plus the whole fact that Seto's voice is a whole lot hotter in the Japanese is woderful in the example that Eric Stewert can't pick the correct voice acters for each charictor except for Pegusus, 'cause his english voice is almost identical to the japanese it's scary!

So there, you answered your own concern. Doesn't that kind of justify 4Kids' position?YGO/DDRfan wrote: Why the stupid americans do the whole butchering is because Americans have different things that they tolerate in what is "apropreate" for kids!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

While I don't support the entire business ethics of 4Kids, I do appreciate what they do, in a way. You could say Al Khan and his company introduce children to the world of anime by giving them the G rated version. A couple of years from now, if the kids still have an interest in these shows, they can get the un-cut versions and discover what they were missing. Some people need to experience new things at a calmer pace. You can't force feed what you love to them and expect them to enjoy it too. If the kids want to get the real deal as the introductory version, it's all up to them...and yes, their parents too, you have to take things easy with them. Not all adults will accept anime right away, or at all. And for the rest of, now that 4Kids has decided to cater to our requests, we can be satisfied as well, at a rate of three episodes every six months. Patience is a virtue.
Speaking of which...Holy Crap! Jim Cummings worked on Pokemon? Wow.OtakuMan22 wrote:OHHHHH the secrets you learn from Pokemon. Fun eh?

And that is the problem in some people's minds. Though I like to think i have put stuff like this above me, i can see that watering down anime to be kid friendly detracts from something in the series(pl) that it's done to. I know (as well as many of you also know) that uninformed people begin to create judgements based on what they see anime to be (2 equally non-repersentative extreems, children's programing, and hentai). Now you can go on and on about how you are above people judging you and "to hell with them", but the fact of the mater is, people will treat you differently and think of you differently as a direct result of this meddling. It's all well and good if these people are people you can ignore, but it's not too far of a jump to suggest that your ability to live life to the fullest may be impared by a prejudice brought on by the very acts of making a G-rated version of an anime and shoving it down the throats of the children of this country. Consequences far beyond the mundane can easily result from the simplest of actions.DTJB wrote:While I don't support the entire business ethics of 4Kids, I do appreciate what they do, in a way. Just as a note, this opinion isn't really mine perse, but i have put into words what i see and hear after sheding away the spin. You won't find many people willing to divulge their paranoid fantasys expecially when saying them out loud lets them see that they sound selfish in their needs.

I really don't like them, they cut way to much off of episodes or they never ever show certain episodes. But same time they are trying to get younger crowds to watch anime shows. If I was younger (like 4 or 5 yrs old) that be perfect for 4Kids. Watching One Piece and others programs that 4Kids did, then read the manga. It is sad, they also should have another company do for older groups on T.V., instead of waiting till it goes on DVD FOR UNCUT version. It make Adult Swim or Late Night Fridays on CN ( like they did for Gundam Seed for it is little to graphic for young crowds and they can't cut to much off anyway) look good to me to watch anime shows on t.v.. If I have the money, I'll buy everthing uncut and uncensor on dvd and also have Anime Network for the fun.
I live and breathe in ANIME.

I agree they cut off to much episode. I mean somethings need to be edited and shit. I mean japanese society can show this to their kids and their children are just fine. Thats what I like about them. They don't act like they need to hide their children from everything. Anyway I still hate them they ruin things RUIN

PLease 4kids MAKE THE ANIME 4 KIDS Little kids that think the worst thing that could happen is to get a B on their report card. Mostly any anime that is dub SUCKS. That's why I watch the japanese version of Inuyasha too (lol in the episode with Koga in it she was cussing at him to get his hands off her) (lol)(I HATE KOGA) (and anime that gets dub by any company) Oh man think of it if 4kids dubbed Full metal alchemist (lol)

And it really isn't 4Kids fault, it's the U.S. censorship laws that they have to adhere to. I must say I do hate their treatment of One Piece, though. It really shouldn't be on Fox's kid lineup but the show does LOOK like a kid's show.MintyFressh wrote:I agree they cut off to much episode. I mean somethings need to be edited and shit. Incidently, Fox actually owns the rights to Slayers, but can't play it because the show would require too much editing.
