The reason it pissed me off is because ever since I got into anime (which was about age 14...I'm 20 now) all I've heard is "OMGZ U HAVENT SEEN EVA ITS BEST ANIME EVER YOU MUST BEE GAYE FOR NOT WATCHING IT U POSER FAYGIT!!11" and just on and on about how it's the best thing ever and I'm a dirty heathen for not having seen it, so I finally gave in a couple months ago and bought "The Perfect Collection" and watched it and then after it was over, as much as I wanted to love it, I was like "that...was it? That's what people have been throwing in my face the last 5 years? That's what people wanted to kill me over not having seen? This is what people go all batshit on me over?" I just...expected something that would make me die of an enourmous mental orgasm...but to no avail. I still want to say I like the series, but after all that, it's really hard for me to say so.

The End of Evangelion was 100% satisfaction though. :D
Gotcha. In my case, I was the same way in that I never watched Eva until recently. I actually saw the first few episodes on VHS when it came out but never followed it up because I was too busy in my Macross and Gundam world. I started hearing more and more Eva hype and it turned me off because I knew my expectations would be inflated. It wasn't until I came upon this place and saw videos like Kevin Caldwell's Engel and HurQlez03's Numb AMVs that I had the urge to watch the series again. I was hooked at that point.

And EoE, that definitely was a winner. It complemented the series greatly as well as give Asuka some primetime action.

i see what you mean here. ayato had every young girl on the show in love with him, even an older woman. i really didnt know who he was going to end up with, untill the end. thats when it made more sense. they did a good job and keeping the girl in the yellow dress' identity a secret, i wont ruin it if you didnt see the ending.

i think i would freak out after seeing the tokyo jupiter. and the d1s.

They are very simular in many ways and I always was under the impression that Rahxephon was nothing more than an eva rip off, and in like the first 3 dvds or so it is, but eventually it does go onto its own story, I guess it just needed the greatness of eva to lift it off its feet. IN the end I thought it was pretty good, not as good as eva of course, but still pretty good. I think the movie of Rahxephon explained a lot about the series unlike end of eva, but I guess you really have to take notes on that movie for it to make sence

The first three DVDS? I was noticing a major departure from the EVA similarities about four episodes in (again, I've yet to see anyone explain how there's anything EVA very much like the Tokyo Jupiter concept.)

i think the tokyo jupiter concept was very original. and the moolions added its own spin on things.

the similarities are what got me watching ra xephon, but the story goes off in another direction. untill the end, and the cleansing the world part, thats when it got eva-like again. but the ending was good.

Most people see Eva before they see RahXephon, probably because Eva gets more hype and has been around longer. So most loyalties are probably going to lie with Eva.

Personally, I prefer RahXephon (but that's becuase I saw RahXephon before Eva), but I still like Eva.

Well i haven't seen either but if i do get around to watching one of them sooner or later it'll be RahXephon, purely because i prefer the artwork style to Eva...that being said I've seen random bits of both in AMVs and episodes in various places.
