Did anyone else feel utterly INSULTED by the last few episodes?
Yes, I do believe insulted is the best word for it.
Also, while I'm at it, keep your eye on Negima. The last episode airs this coming week, and I have this feeling in my gut that it's going to be awful. However, as a whole, the series has been top-notch. Just these last few episodes have been kind of getting on my nerves. I've been posting about them in the Anime Episodes Discussion forum here.
Not to start any flame wars, but I will put in a respectful disagreement about Air. . .maybe I'm overemotional/sappy, but episodes 11 and 12 made me cry so much I couldn't read the subtitles, and in my book, that means the show did something successfully. But then again, with the stark divergence in episodes 7-9, I can see how the ending can be screwed up.
I think at one point they were going to do 52 eps of Negima, but I guess they scaled it back, probably due to the suckage. I've been okay with it through 11 eps, but I don't know if I could have taken 52. Guess I'll DL the manga if my curiosity isn't sated.
As for genuinely bad anime, I don't think I've ever watched all of a "bad" series, although I did watch FF: Legend of the Crystals five years ago before I really got into anime. Final Fantasy: Unlimited isn't all that great either, although most of its negative criticism comes from comparison to the quality of the video games; not "living up to the Final Fantasy name."
I didn't care much for Bastard or Peach Girl from a few episodes (PG is "too shoujo" even for a male shoujo fam like me), and I'll throw in a few votes for all the new harem shows, like Sister Princess, Girls Bravo, etc.
Finally: Ripoffs/redone ideas--I'm going to go out on a limb and call Madlax bad after a few episodes, not only because it's a Noir retread, but because the slow pacing drags us through scenes without any mystery or relevance. No cool "girls with guns" gratuitous killing scenes, either.
And Fafner, from the summary, seems so much like an EVA ripoff that, to quote Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, "I think GAINAX is gonna sue someone!"
