Here's a link to a reviewer from Australia. http://amr.nextstudio.net/index.html He has downloaded most of the anime he reviewed, but the ones he obtains commercially should be available where you are.

I would suggest that you start out with a few anime at first, rather than going after all you can at once. The list that bulimiabeautypageant is very good for someone starting out (although they left out a horror genre from their list; plus I would personally add Kino's Journey to their intellectual list).

If you were so inclined to watch horror anime, I'd suggest Vampire Princess Miyu, Hellsing, Blood: The Last Vampire, and Jigoku Shoujo (which is pretty new).
