Jules Verne: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; The Mysterious Island or Journey to the Center of the Earth.

There's a childrens' books author, Enid Blyton, my favorite series by her is the Adventure series (she has several series out but that's the one I want, don't care for the others she's written, sorry)

Shane by Jack Schaefer. Great book, great movie, I think it'd be a great anime series.

When the movie League of Extraordinary Gentlemen came out, I hit my library and read the books the characters came from, and I must say that the Allan Quatermain adventures by H. Rider Haggard would be fun as anime, too. And no, the lead character need NOT look like Sean Connery

These are all excellent suggestions. I've noticed dune is the popular one out of all and I'd like to throw in my agreement. I alson liked the Harry Potter idea, because the books keep getting better and better. Another good book series that I really enjoy is "A Familiar Dragon" by Peter David. It's actually three books in one. It's about a normal man who is trying to convince a town that he is not a wizard, but he has a dragon familiar and lives in a wizards house. It's good.

The stories by HP Lovecraft would also be great to be turned into an anime, although i'm not sure if an anime can capture the essense of the stories. The books are freaky and chill to the bones because of the way the story is told, i don't know in an anime can duplicate this propperly, but i'd like to see it happen.

Animal Farm. Greatest book ever in my humble oppinion. If Gainax did to it what they did with Little Red Riding Hood in Jin-roh, well it would be freakin' awsome.

Ooooo, x2.

Thought I was the only one in the world that's heard of Feist. Poor, unsung, brilliant fantasy author. :P

And I'm also going to have to agree with the Dune crowd. I think it would translate very well into an anime.

The Noble Dead series. It's my favorite book series. It would make a PERFECT anime. Kinda like Dungeons & Dragons, but more gothic and with vampires.

I guess Max Payne isn't much of a yaoi fan...
