Maybe you're right but like older_gohan said, it's preference. I need to see more of the dub anyway to really decide on it.

damn.... you must be watching something diffrent
Well seems like majority so far say they do a good job on the dub, and a few that thinks Al does a good job. So like maybe YOU'RE the one that is watching a different show..

well....it must be alittle hard for the VA to do emotions when your character only has one actual facial expression Image aside from his distorted look.
Life is but a dream.....So what happens when you wake up?

I couldn't disagree with you more. I've never had any problem with the voice at all...ever. And trust me...I hate bad VAs, and I can tell who can't act and who can. Aaron Dismuke can act.

Well the whole idea behind a good VA track is making sure the voices fit the personalities and not just the look of characters.
Here are some examples

Maes Hughes - Maes Hughes personality is more the light hearted but yet caring eprson of the series. He's always looking out for his friends and more often than not is always willing to lend a hand to help others accomplish their goals. He's like a father figure who's your best friend.

His voice was done perfectly in my opinion. He sounded like he meant what he said in the english voices and seemed to make his personality more evident.

Asuka - She whines, complains, and professes to know and be above all of the other eva pilots. Her voice was way to scratchy. It's supposed to be annoying in what she says not just the way she talks. There way to much emphasis put on the voice getting this high pitched tone.

Just my simple observations.

Amvwizard: You can't base an entire show upon only ONE voice. For crying out loud, Al is a suit of freakin Armour!!! Do you really think someone could speak with emphasis on emotions when you're hollow inside, and only have one facial expression? I think not.. :?

Super Shanko wrote:really, just something about the way Gendo talks thats annoying like Shinji's and Asuka's constant bitching about things that are completely stupid.

And as for Al, the only thing i didn't like was the way his voice didn't get all messed when he turned black from Kimbley, unlike the sub.

As for anyone else, Nina's voice was so bubbly adorable it made for tragedy all the more sadder when she talked to her dad while they were hugging, Wrath and Envy's voices got annoying over time.

Scar's was one of the best on there, same for Hughes and Armstong(better than the sub)
I thought Wrath's was okie, but yeah, Envy's got really annoying over time. It was like..a really really really really weird female-like voice, which i hated. But i can't compare it to the original since i'ver never heard the original.

Also, Roy Mustang's voice in english was a HUGE improvement from Japanese imo. I really didn't like his voice in Japanese.. > >

I think Wrath was spot-on, being both cute and a touch disturbing.
