I never said you had to be an otaku.......dipshit. I'm quoting you directly. You said yourself....."I'm not an anime fan. There, I said it." I'm not looking through this whole forum for that post though.CaTaClYsM wrote:just because I am not some otaku fanatic doesn't mean I can't like anime, ass...

lol... thats funny... I generalize all those too.. into the "I don't like" pileCaTaClYsM wrote:I just chatted with my cuz and he says that anime sucks. How do you deal with people who talk like that? that genealize anime, and lump together DBZ with grave of the fire flies and evangelion. and say that aniem as a whole sucks.
the only way to rationalize your side of an arguement is by not having the arguement... a head strong debatist will not change his mind even when he thinks he is no longer correct.
Most serious debatists don't even care about the others opinion, simply to outstage them infront of the audience and make the opposition look bad, and make themselves look good.
in reality, the only question you should be asking is why you waste your time with someone who's so opinionated over something that is associated with a person's taste?
just my opinion of course... take it with a grain of salt for all I care...

I always find that a heavy dose of sarcasam towards the person in question works wonders. If done right you can find out if that person was actually ignorent about the issue, misinformed, doing it just to annoy you, or find out that there just not into art. One friend I can remember doing this too was just misinformed, that and he didn't get anime so it was presumed 'sucky'. After he decided he had been a bit ignorent in his assumption he gave anime another chance. I showed him Beserk, and suddenly he liked anime very much.. well only a certain type of anime but its all anime isn't it? Guess I found his taste in anime.
The morale of the story being if its any of the first three options there's a chance to change his mind. If its the fourth, then your screwed and shouldn't even bother with it. Like the Miessiah said.
