not to promote bootlegging but i just bought this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=2290
both subbed and dubbed? for 1 \ or 1\4 the price of it either or anywhere else .. mor eif bought seperately ... seriously .. how much does it cost to creat a dvd .. cents?? .. i can see price for animations .. voice actors .. subbers ... etc. etc .. but im not paying 20+ for a dvd with 3 episodes on it. i find those prices ridiculous.

...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.

I wish that they would start making DVD in at least MPEG 2. But what I really would this rocked is if they ecoded them in XVID with OGG audio.
think of how much better a 2000 bitrate XVID encode would be to a 2000 bitrate MPEG 1.
*drools*

So what's wrong with bootleg copies? Well, moraly speaking it is wrong. Anime is still anime, no? I don't care for the quality of the anime, as long as they didn't edited the good parts out, or thought that some parts were too confusing so they "fix" it? That's the only time it should be wrong. Oh yeah, when you see cheap price anime, then they are bootleg. I got all three Slayers season for only $90 on DVD. I don't really care about the issue of bootleg. Whose getting hurt? America? Japan?

Actually, the DVDs for Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda have like five episodes each, so that would be about ten episodes of anime, and yet they look perfect and even have room for extra features on every disc. Buffy, however, only has 4 episodes per disc, and looks grainier than the beach. Apparently, DVD quality depends more on what the settings are (bitrate curve, special processing, blah blah) than on the number of episodes per disc.RichLather wrote:Putting all the legal issues aside, that's between 6 and 7 episodes per disc. You've got a lot more compression to deal with, so less quality.
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

I agree that the skill of the people doing the encoding can have a HUGE effect on the quality of the video
