1.) the boy didn't kill his sister if it wasnt for him she probaly wouldnt have lasted as long as she did and 2.) he shouldnt have had to work his normal childhood was taken away from him the second his mother died

Dude he was 12 in a society at war that is old enough for factory work they had children working over there the whole time. She would have lasted longer if he went out and helped his cousin work.

Of course... Grave of the Fireflies is light entertainment, is it? Just something to pop into the ol' DVD player and have as background noise as you scarf down your McDonald's and learn what clothes are the most trendy to wear. After all... the stories in anime are all frivilous and have no bearing on anything going on in the real world, right?

I mean... no one really suffered in Japan during the firebombings and the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki... I mean...during war, no children are ever orphaned... and no parents have to suffer the loss of children, righgt?

I mean... all storywriters are just writing light entertainment so they can make some cash. None of them are trying to tackle important issues about life and the human condition...

No! Not at all...

there's no difference between a story like Pokemon and a story like Cowboy Bebop because it's all just empty entertainment designed to fill up the voids in our lives.

Wow.

I'm so glad I'm not as shallow as people like you.

Quit being such a drama queen. I'm serious. I usually like what you have to say, but god damn, lighten up. I'm sure it's powerful, I'm sure it's moving (I haven't seen it yet), but you're acting like an elitist snob. So some people don't cry or show "normal" emotions when seeing it. So some people don't give a 110% care vibe to everything. Big deal, that's human nature in all of its diverse glory. You say you're not shallow like us? Of course not, you're in an ivory tower miles above us, apparently, and feel that you can dictate how we must feel and think and act, and God have mercy on whoever disagrees, shows dissent, or has their own opinion. You have to make sure they think the "right" way, or ostracize and belittle them if they don't.

I'm not a fan of the whole "left right" political thing, but you need to step back and look in the mirror at what you're coming across as: a super bleeding heart, elitist hyper left wing fascist. Lighten up, and stop telling everyone else how to think. We're all different, and I'd rather die than live in a world where we all have to be the same. Show some restraint and be happier. Reactionaries rarely get anything accomplished.

Sorry if this hurts, but it's the truth.
I'm out...

Martin Luther King said that a great enemy for change in this world is the quiet apathy of so many good-hearted people.

I can't simply ignore the hateful things Oni says because it makes me feel guilty of complicity through apathy.

When I hear things as hate-filled as what Mr. Oni spouts out... it just makes me ill to the core. Ignorant people like him do so much damage to the human condition... and if we simply tolerate it... we help contribute to that.

Mr. Oni posts murderous and hate-filled thoughts. A man who scoffs at the death of children, who sees intolerance of most people as propper behavior and who feels well justified in shooting me dead.

Even if Mr. Oni killed me, it wouldn't change the fact that he is a pea-brained, hate filled waste of life. My not being around to say it wouldn't change this fact.

I don't care if any of you are offended by my being "elitist"

Being called elitist by the likes of some of you is actually a compliment as far as I'm concerned.

I normally don't even like wasting my time responding to assholes, since they don't read... or even care... but I am leaving this comment anyway.

-Uncle Milo
There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.
