Katakana is used mostly for foreign words, so that Japanese people can approximate their pronunciation. There is no reason why a native English speaker should use katakana pronunciation with other English speakers. That's just silly.Êricō wrote:Sorry. Katakana may also be used for emphasis, such as my above DAIKIRAI (or hate/strongly dislike), or for onomatopoeia, especially in manga or novels.
