Actually Eva 01 was covered in bacalite (sp?), so Shinji couldn't help even if he wanted to.

There is so much I would want to change in Eva. Mostly I would want to change it so it have so many unanwsered questions left.

From what I remember, it was only covered up to its chest so he could have got in it and the Baklit couldn't hold it back.

I think I remember some on the entry plug. Guess I'll have to take another look at it. And I think its suppose to hold back an Eva (which it obviusly didn't) being they poured it into the cage when Unit 00 went beserk during the activation test.
