i'm sure he didn't mean ALWAYS as white as her plug suit, but it's a good comparison
-SPOILERS BELOW... SUMWHERE!!!!-
eva isn't a far-out extreme anime, the characters have very real characteristics both mentally and physically, even though we might be accustomed to looking at anime characters that are colorful to say the least in a lot of anime, those colorful characters don't appear in eva, so if we see a character with light-blue hair like Rei, it's not a very big jump to assume that there is sum sort of physical disorder with her, so albinism i think is a very likely case with her, whether it's because she's made from an angel or because she may be an experimental clone of Yui, the point is, she's not normal
and you can't say Angels are albino anyway, if you remember, humans were considered the 18th and final angel, we faced ourselves, and the Angels were only things that we COULD have become, of the 18 forms, we took the form of humans, offsprings of Lilith, the Lilin (or was it Lilim or sumtin like that?)
So Angels aren't 17 creatures of the same species, they're as different from each other as we are from any one of them.

That's still a mighty jump. Rei has blue hair, so automatically she has a disorder? Keep in mind Misato has purple hair anyway. I think all of the things that lead to people beleiving that Rei is an albino are more starting from the possibility that Rei is an albino, and then branching down and finding ways to justify that, rather than looking at what Rei is and considering her attributes, and then considering the albino disorder. It's farfetched in my opinion to say that Rei's hair means there is something wrong with her, her hair is blue. If they wanted her to be an albino, they could have easily given her white hair, or even very light blue (her hair as it is isn't all that light, atleast not nearly as light as it could be) or even gone for a blue & white complexion made famous by Berserk's Griffith.Daio Kaji wrote:i'm sure he didn't mean ALWAYS as white as her plug suit, but it's a good comparison

yeah, that's true, and besides, i don't think being an albino would give you blue hair of any tint! it'd either just be light or non-existant, i'm not an albino expert
but i don't think that people would just start making assumptions for the heck of it, but we're just looking for a technical/scientific explanation for her appearance, since we can't prove that she's an experiment, we can at least make observations on what we see... her comparitively pale skin, light colored hair and serious need of color in her retinas, i remember reading that if you don't have pigment in ur eyes, they turn red... but since i don't have a viable source... i could have pulled that out of my ass
btw, the misato argument was good, nice job
how about we agree that she looks pale, isn't normal (like any of them are anyways, lol) and is close to Gendo because he is the one who created her
(and don't argue whether or not Gendo created Rei, the series literally says that 'You are... created by a man named Gendo Ikari' to Rei in one of the episodes)

That's what Rei tells herself when she goes off into la-la land thanks to Instrumentality. She believes it, but maybe Gendo was spoonfeeding her bullshit her whole life... but chances are that you're right and she's telling the truth and Gendo created her. I'd put it at about an 85-95% chance.Daio Kaji wrote:and don't argue whether or not Gendo created Rei, the series literally says that 'You are... created by a man named Gendo Ikari' to Rei in one of the episodes
