I also said that if an Anime is funny, it should be called a Funny Anime. Because that would seperate it from a totally different Sponge Bob or Ed, Ed, & Eddy.
Excel Saga and Sponge Bob both contain funny things that are "Cartoon-like", but they still are very different. Also, the comedy of Funny Anime didn't come from Cartoons.

Re: ANIME... not cartoon...
again (cuz I'm assuming it was said already... hopefully) it depends on your definition of cartoon (toon generally being looney and childish). Some (most) say anime is animated stuff, cartoons is animated stuff so anime is cartoon, otaku says anime is animated stuff for the mass public while cartoons are just for rabb.. er kids. BUT in america most dubs seem to be 'just for' kids so I've quit arguing this point cuz the damed dub companys are just too big and dum. So I usually say something like yeah and under my breath, but it's not like most dubbed anime isn't aimed at 14yr old kids...The Non-Professional wrote:Ever talked to a friend or someone metion an anime and they are like "Oh! I've seen that cartoon, i like it." i hate it when they call it a cartoon cause its not a cartoon anime is something more than a cartoon to me. or am i just weird by getting defensive like that?

Re: Watch your tongue before I rip it out
however in this case where, apparantly, both parties are interested than it's ok.TheRealNeoHentaiMaster wrote:Clara Yuri Asaki wrote: If you truly believe that Animes are Cartoons are the same just because both are animated, then you are an ignorant primative fool who can only grasp the most basic of concepts.
See, this is a perfect example of the anime fan with the "I am better than you, I watch anime not cartoons" type attitude. Thanks for the demonstration Clara. The fact is, like I said before, maybe they are different, but no one outside of the strict anime fan group really gives a shit. Most people dont draw a line between the two, so there is none. Its not a matter of seeing more deeply into it or something. Im afraid your giving yourself a little too much credit here. Its just a word used to clarify a catagory. You talk like all anime is brilliant and all cartoons are simple kids shows. Wake up, most anime sucks ass anyway, just like most movies. In the US, we only get to see the best stuff because they dont even bother exporting the bad stuff from Japan, and even a lot the exported stuff sucks, so that just goes to show how bad soem of the stuff we never see is. But, there are some that are really good and worth watching. Same with american animation.
but yeah, if your parent (or some other uninformed person) happens to say 'you watch too many damned cartoons, clean your room!' Than it would be a waste of breath and another excuse for your parents to be worried about you if you give them this shtick ;-p.

Maybe it could've, but then we wouldn't have had this much fun.paizuri wrote:I can't help but wonder if this thread could've been resolved on the first page.
