I want to see what they actually say not what the reporters type quoting from what they heard. Anyways this is a bad idea, if it happens I dont plan on watching it, for several reasons:

1. Its a japanese anime being made by americans out for money not vision.

2. They are trying to get it done as soon as possible, bad idea for any movie especially one that will live in the shadow of the anime.

3. There is no way that they can add to the story since it ended, and creating a whole new story would undermind the anime.

The only possible ways I see this not being a dragonball movie all over again is:

1. The Anno and original staff on story writing and direction.

2. They dont rush the movie, anything less than 2 years to make will kill the movie in acting and cg effects.

3. They dont try to make the characters and angels look exactly like the anime ones, I dont wont to imagine a live action rei.

Im still hoping that this whole idea will fall though, Im sure that ADV dont have the money to make this anygood.

Thats the thing that has me really puzzled. Does ADV have the financial reasources (not to mention the technical know how) to suddenly start up a live-action division? Furthermore, if this project bombs could it bring down the company?

Another thing to consider is the fact that early rumors of a Live action Eva suggested that James Cameron was going to be evolved. And it is apparenly true that he will be directing Battle Angel Alita. However, he did say that he might work on another film first...

Anyone seen G Saviour If it is done like that (with the CGI and stuff) it could be pretty cool seeing the Eva's stomping around terrorising Tokyo (oh whait thats Godzilla)....

If its done like G Saviour, it would be disappointing.(as was G Saviour) I think this is what everyone is saying. If they try to make Eva live action it'll be another B movie with sub-par CGI and even worse acting. Though, I will admit that G Saviour is one of my guilty pleasures.

The difference in this case is that G Savior was made by the japanese for vision sake. Also we never said it wouldn't be cool but they dont plan on spending alot of time on this movie.

True but they were only the distributor. They didnt have anything to do with the production. Just like for Eva, one of the bigger companies will probably do the distrobution (assuming theyre planning for this to be a wide-theatre release film).

I dont see how this can be made out of money and not vision...I dont know if you guys noticed but Anime ISNT THAT popular here....sure the movie will get a few million watchers but it wont push any numbers....hell I dont think it will Break even for that matter....So stop cursing Adv because they are the sole reason why anime is so damn popular in the states (no fansubs didnt make it popular either)

Eva made by americans hmm, theyre bound to fuck it up......Shinji will be some big macho action hero, Gendo will be some great big sinister guy. Misato will probrably end up being a blonde....Asuka? no one would want the part, no one can whine that much! I doubt they'd get Rei done right...hmm, and Kaji??? well, theyll just use some pimp they find on some alley......probrably.
