Damn, they already have the Eva soundtracks! They'll probably keep the main themes, probably re-record them, add some songs by popular artists, and there you have it.

I'd anticipate that the movie would be musically very similar to the anime.

Indeed, but if you were gonna make a movie from an anime...would you really want to just rehash the ost from the series/movie..which already rehashed many songs on it's own.

Plus live action with have a different feel from animation, especially in this case where I bet they'll try to match the series/movies visualistically and then some, where Eva finally ended in what..98? EoE that is. The evolution in live action and animation cinematography (sp?) has evolved a lot since then. Though I bet some scores will be remenescant to the series, I don't think music from the show would do justice for the L/A remake.

I would still suspect a largely orchestral soundtrack, quite appropriate for the movie, with certain areas where rock/popular music would be used. Then of course, if they do try to point out the depressing/weird sides to the movie, ambient/soundscape stuff would come in.

Keyboard is too simple for a movie with a 100million budget. Rock/popular would be too inappropriate (at least as a dominant music direction).

My thoughts exactly. Evangelion has A LOT religious references, like you know, ANGELS which gives the irony that they're our enemies. And there's always a holy cross here and there. I wonder how they're going to pull that off since this WILL cause controversy.

Well, on the other hand - there is no reason the religious controversy should stop the creators. This just depends on what the creators want to do. There is no law against controversial religious references, rather a law for them - aka freedom of speech.

There is a thing called Political Correctness though. Time will tell if it becomes a factor.

In reality, the movie (I think) could actually emphasize the 'controversy' as a publicity stunt, to its' own advantage.

I think they're going to pull it off just right, and all the fans will be like yay! but all the diehard christians will get mad and for some reason Anno will get shot.
