ohhh i can make some real interesting comments about that one ...
like how much dwchang may love certain body parts and wan't to share them for "our" enjoyment

I was thinking the same thing.. Specially after that guy said he wouldn't want to share his girlfriend and dwchang says that...

It's not that people think they are better than others.. It's just that they have found something they can relate to that makes them feel different from mainstream people.
It's like discovering this magical beach out in the wilderness that only you and a few close friends know about that suddenly becomes flocked with tourists.

It was never your beach, but in finding it and thinking it can be something thats for you and a select few share, you will have a tendacy to get annoyed when the masses flock to it..

i agree %99.23 about everything you said dwchang, i would love to turn on the tv and see NGE playing on Abc or something, then my parents would understand why i still like "cartoons". and why quit anything once it became popular, if you were a true fan would stick to it till the very end.

i think that if anime goes mainstream, it would definately become easier to watch more anime. But those animes are edited soooo much that it would lose its meaning. The whole anime family thing would deminish. Everyone would be all up in our grill about animes and stuff. It wont b a close nit family anymore. Even though if it hit mainstream it wouldnt get too far, ppl will outgrow it because the good stuff would be editied out. I say all the true anime fans UNITE.

There's always the "Anime Network." I've also heard TechTV is pretty good on not censoring or cutting too much.

I'm sorry, if you base your self-esteem on anime that's really, really sad.

Wrong! This is not diminished the more it's shared. The anime does not change when more people watch it. Your DVDs are not going to get "crowded" because a thousand more people bought copies of it.

Bad analogy.

I wouldn't care one cent.

I would just hope the prices for it would drop. I don't care what other people think about something I personally like. I will alwasy like animation whether japan, american or other. Just because it becomes popular doesn't change my appreciation for it.

its sad to hear it would for so many other people, to me that means it has become popish.

Think of it this way. assuming everyone here is old enough to drive, im sure that if ur a big car fan (just like a big anime fan) you would love showing off your car to other ppl. No one wants to see everyone elce and their brother driving a Red '96 GMC Sonoma driving around like I have, or a 01 Jeep Grand Cheeroke. It would diminish the value of the car and the thrill of driving it. Its kinda the same way with Anime. No one talks about TV in general, its always about Certain Shows, Anime, Star Trek, a Reality Series they might like. It's all about what sets them apart from every one elce. Everyone 's got their own little group that they want to be part of and if everyone and their mom was part of that group, it just wouldnt be the same.

Well put...couldnt have said it better myself. To add to that, an anime is like a rare item, the more they make the less rare its gonna b[<--i thnk they person b4 me said this already}, people r gonna be talking all about it and it will be played out way too quick and then we will be stuck with all the sucky main stream anime. I like it the way it is right now.

Exactly, I dont think anime should change a big, itll end up like a hit song, where after being played every hour on the hour for 2 weeks no one will like it anymore.
