I used to toy with the idea for two 'Military' type Anime Series.

One was 'TET-3', it was also an anime RPG of mine for a brief time, about a ROTC type SDF tactical team comprised mostly of senior HS students and college students, really ment to be a promotion group for the SDF, who's only real predicted tasks would be rare crowd/riot control. (Not like the Japanese are known for rioting)

A coup begins to go down in Tokye, terrorism agianst the current government and the U.S. Military positions, Camp Zama (The largest US instalation in Japan) gets attacked by a Fuel Truck bomb, riots begin to fill the streets, the terrorists, wishing for the removal of American military interests from Japan and a return to a pre-WWII method of ruleing attack both the Japanese and the Americans. Hostage takings at various media outlets, rouge units of the SDF on their side, all that.

The SDF's three 'TET' teams, (Tactical Emergancy Teams), never really ment to see 'real' combat, are called up to aid the TMPD and SDF in maintaing order, the story focuses on the 3rd Airborne team, but includes the other two teams at times. In the beginning they are sent out to secure low threat area's so the TMPD and SDF can handle the 'real' situation deep in the city. Eventually, they find themselves in several pitched battles in urban Tokyo fighting agiansts lightly armed terrorists, rioting civilians, rienforcing ambushed police convoys and downed American aircraft and moving on to attempting to stop a rouge SDF Merkava tank platoon on it's way to shell American interests. Think of it as an Anime Rainbow 6.

The second was a modern mecha idea, Japan becomes the primary producer of 'Mobile Armors' a walking weapons system ment to supliment armored divisions, definatly not the 'godly' mecha you would see in Gundam, the MA's are vunlerable in many ways, especially agianst aircraft, they are highly mobile and capable to aid infantry in close combat or support armored actions. Only 9 meters tall (That's not even as tall as an M1A3 Abrams is long) they can be heli-lifted by specialised Skycrane helicopters and airtransported, even airdropped by various mainstream transport planes.

The Japanese government primarily sells different versions of MA's for different uses, the SSDF and US Military reciving the most advanced versions, while a lesser capable version made avaliable to European nations. The SDF finds themselves aiding the training and deployment of US Army Airbourne divisions integrate MA's into their operations, eventually assisting in a grueling U.N. peacekeeping operation in Northern Africa.

Personally, I like my shoujo J-drama series the most, but sometimes I wanna see some shit blow up.

Oh, well debating politics in a message board is a purly futile thing to attempt online.

I just ment things where it's more then 'We're teh good guys, they're teh bad guys, LAUNCH GIANT ROBOTSU!!!'

One of my favorite animes is the film Patlabor II, a political mecha movie that only gave the mecha about 20mins of screen time. Gasaraki was also an interesting anime, where they nearly economicaly destroyed America.

Or maybe I just want to see 19yo Japanese kids in BDU's and PASGT armor running up to the burning hulk of a USMC Osprey that was shotdown, clipped an office building on the way down, and greet the survivors with 'Harro Joe... Needu some harp?"

I'll include a buncha GW stuff for all the fangirls out there and so people would pick it apart and talk about how bad it is.

I would also have the deep, meaningful stuff for those anime fans of more discriminating taste.

I used to have this REALLY STUPID life long dream about making this manga, and maybe even an anime, about this girl and in this legend it says that she will become a murderer and skilled swordsmen in war. ((Btw in the setting is in Japan right before the battle of Sekigahara sp?)) So to not hurt anyone she runs away from home, meets a homeless boy, makes him her friend, they journey everywhere and kick bad guys butt blah blah blah. But the important thing is that she's a pacifist who carries a katana and when u hit her unexpectly she loses all of her senses and her consious takes over, which is the murderer person. Only when u hit her again at the back of her neck is when she goes back to normal. Then she meets this guy, whole love story blah blah blah, but she has to leave him, but before she does, there's a battle in the village, someone hits her in the back of the neck with a sword. She turns evil, kills almost everyone, including the guy she likes. When she turns back to normal, she suns away again, and then the next season happens, but I stopped making up the story for it, cause I'm never going to make good manga.
