Just FYI (because I like talking about myself) I don't by any means dislike the Shinji/Asuka pairing. (Accept that it detracts from the Rei/Shinji pairing) But I honestly don't think it would have any chance of lasting a substantial amount of time. But it's not like I know anything about relationships.DTJB wrote:I don't really have a big problem with anyone having a favorite couple that's different from what I like. So some people don't like the Shinji/Asuka pairing, that's quite alright with me. And I'm not going to go into the whole Rei vs. Asuka thing, it gets pretty stupid sometimes. That's all I wanted to say. No, wait. I think there was something else.
Oh yeah. Bit it off, spat it out and ground it under my heal, took a sledgehammer to where it came from.the Black Monarch wrote:Suck on it.

"Shinji, get me a beer"
"Shinji, cook some better tasting ramen dammit"
"Shinji mow the lawn"
"Shinji, I'm goin out, don't wait up for me on the couch."
"Shinji, I hope you like the couch because you're going to be spending a lot of time on it"
"dammit, Shinji if you're gonna save the world, couldn't you dress a little better?"

"Go with" is not as accurate a phrase as "got stuck with"...Heero_Yuy84 wrote:Face it, in the long run, Anno chose for Shinji to go with Asuka...
Cool! And did the jawbreakers all spill out of the machine and cause all the little kids to come running so they could grab as many jawbreakers as they could?DTJB wrote:Oh yeah. Bit it off, spat it out and ground it under my heal, took a sledgehammer to where it came from.
Yeah, pretty much... although you forgot to add the "*cough* *choke* *gasp*" bit at the end...madbunny wrote: "Shinji, get me a beer"

Maybe, but he can always get some backbone and say "Yes... but you're in MY WORLD NOW Muahahahahah!"
Plus... since we're in fantasy land anyway, she's a pretty fired up person. He'll be getting some action whether he wants it or not. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't put up with a dead fish either. That'd put some hair on his chest after a while.
Was there anybody in that show that didn't have a truckload of (emotional) baggage?

Not really, she has virtually no social skills. Has a fixation on Gendo, gives a whole new meaning to test tube baby and if anything is even more of a pushover than shinji. Look at the very beginning where she was willing to be put back into an eva in such bad shape she had to be wheeled in on a stretcher.the Black Monarch wrote:I believe Rei has been widely noted for her absence of such. Does that count?
On the other hand, I've always been a sucker for girls with blue hair and little ear thingies sticking out of their hair. (I was forever getting busted for letting girls like that backstage at concerts)

That's a testament to her courage in the face of impossible odds, and has nothing to do with being a "pushover".madbunny wrote: even more of a pushover than shinji. Look at the very beginning where she was willing to be put back into an eva in such bad shape she had to be wheeled in on a stretcher.

You meet blue haired girls with ear thingies at concerts? Lucky!
Anyway, Rei certainly has her pshcological problems, but being a pushover isn't one of them. All the things she does she does purely of her own occurd, and she is obviously capable of making a stand whenever she is told to do something she doesn't agree with (A.K.A. "Hey Gendou, got yer arm! Ahahaha!") and that's certainly more than we can say about Shinji. Really I wouldn't call lack of social skills much of a problem, but her lack of life experience is a major problem with her psyociology, and that's all thanks to Gendou. Damn you Gendou!
As for whatever we where talking about before, Kaji is pretty problem-free and extremely level-headed. He alwasy used to get mentioned when people bring up "Who in Evangelion is sane?" but I haven't seen him mentioned in a very long time.

Damn, I hate typos. I wish I could edit that.
To add substance to my post, I'll say this:
Gendou! GRRR!!!
Anyway, anyone seen Noir? Kirika has quite a few things common with Ayanami. All you need do is give Kirika vibrant blue hair and she'd pretty much be the same person in a different situation.
