Just FYI (because I like talking about myself) I don't by any means dislike the Shinji/Asuka pairing. (Accept that it detracts from the Rei/Shinji pairing) But I honestly don't think it would have any chance of lasting a substantial amount of time. But it's not like I know anything about relationships.

I think Sesshoumaru and Kagura would be a nice couple, but Alucard and Integra is a nice one!

Maybe, but he can always get some backbone and say "Yes... but you're in MY WORLD NOW Muahahahahah!"

Plus... since we're in fantasy land anyway, she's a pretty fired up person. He'll be getting some action whether he wants it or not. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't put up with a dead fish either. That'd put some hair on his chest after a while.

Was there anybody in that show that didn't have a truckload of (emotional) baggage?

Not really, she has virtually no social skills. Has a fixation on Gendo, gives a whole new meaning to test tube baby and if anything is even more of a pushover than shinji. Look at the very beginning where she was willing to be put back into an eva in such bad shape she had to be wheeled in on a stretcher.

On the other hand, I've always been a sucker for girls with blue hair and little ear thingies sticking out of their hair. (I was forever getting busted for letting girls like that backstage at concerts)

That's a testament to her courage in the face of impossible odds, and has nothing to do with being a "pushover".

You meet blue haired girls with ear thingies at concerts? Lucky!

Anyway, Rei certainly has her pshcological problems, but being a pushover isn't one of them. All the things she does she does purely of her own occurd, and she is obviously capable of making a stand whenever she is told to do something she doesn't agree with (A.K.A. "Hey Gendou, got yer arm! Ahahaha!") and that's certainly more than we can say about Shinji. Really I wouldn't call lack of social skills much of a problem, but her lack of life experience is a major problem with her psyociology, and that's all thanks to Gendou. Damn you Gendou!

As for whatever we where talking about before, Kaji is pretty problem-free and extremely level-headed. He alwasy used to get mentioned when people bring up "Who in Evangelion is sane?" but I haven't seen him mentioned in a very long time.

To add substance to my post, I'll say this:

Gendou! GRRR!!!

Anyway, anyone seen Noir? Kirika has quite a few things common with Ayanami. All you need do is give Kirika vibrant blue hair and she'd pretty much be the same person in a different situation.
