What didn't you like about it? I have only seen one episode (the first) and it seemed alright if a bit silly in some places.Karou_ken wrote:I bought the first volume Of Final Fantasy Unlimited and I think it was waste of my money.

I've played FF from the Super Nintendo all the way to the PS2 excluding FFX-2 and FFXI. In my opinion, I think that VII and IX were the only FFs that were better than the Super Nintendo versions. I thought VIII and X were kinda boring. Both of them I played halfway through, got bored, stopped playing for about a year and played again just because I wanted to finish. My beef with VIII was the battle system and thought it tried too hard to be a serious game. My beef with X is that I wasn't too interested in the story, the game was too linear, and I was too annoyed Tidus' constant bitching and whining. And because he looks like a girl, who would take him seriously as a contender to save the world? I swear, if Ellen DeGeneres were a gay man, she'd look exactly like Tidus.

Good stuff, good stuff. I've enjoyed all the ff games, but I'd have to say 6 & 7 are my favs. And as for 10, i agree with you completely Demented. The story was lame, and I thought that Yuna's voice actor was absolutley horrendous ( . . . I . . . must . . . defeat . . . Syn . . .). And as for the Ellen Degeneres/Tidus thing, oddly enough, you're right. So right that it's frightening. But all in all, i still enjoyed 10, although the sphere grid system was kinda ridiculous, especially when you make the right weapons for the characters and you have Wakka do over 2 million points of damage . . .

Ah, I triumphantly return to the org from the distant land of ban-ish-land bearing with me fruits of wisdom and the skill of witty banter! Anyhow, the comparison of Tidus to Ellen has been used many, many times and I also believe that Tidus was way too whiny, because I thought he was going to cry every time he mentioned his daddyTsunami Jones wrote:demented wrote:I've played FF from the Super Nintendo all the way to the PS2 excluding FFX-2 and FFXI. 6 and 7 are also my favorite FF games because they had the best stories and the most memorable characters. They were better than any of the BF games, IMEO. I'm really very glad that the SNES FFs are being remade to play on the PS, but I just wish they hadn't changed anything...

FFX
I loved Final Fantasy and had played 1, 4 (2 US), 5 (Anthology), 6 (3 US), 7, 8, and 9. Then I played 10 and lost all faith in Square as a game company. It graphically excellent but completely lacked the things that I had come to enjoy in the Final Fantasy series.
****I'm sorry, this is a rant/spoiler, do not feel obligated to read it*****
The ATB was a huge advance in gameplay, why would anyone go back to turn-based? The fact that you could sub players in and out of battle made it ridiculously and effectively eliminated the need to plan for battle. The lack of an overland map made the world seem as small as it really was. The Sphere Grid, while an interesting concept, permitted everyone to know everything and helped lower the value of character classes. Ex. My Tidus knew all of the white magic before Yuna. The ratio of cool characters to sucky characters was so low that I couldn't form a party without including a sucky character. (Cool = Auron, .5*Rikku) (Sucky = rest) In FFVII I had to go out of my way to form a sucky party (Sucky = Cait Sith, .5*Aerith) (Cool = rest) Also I hated Yuna and stopped playing FFX for 2 months when I got to Zanarkand and she didn't die.

As for Final Fantasy Unlimited, I have heard a few good things, a few bad things, and a few things that say it is just Square name-whoring.

well it was ok. I thought Kaze and Makenshi were pretty hot. I am going to buy the rest of the series coz one of my friends likes it and says that I should see the rest of it coz it gets better. When I first saw watched the dvd it wasnt exactly what i thought it might be. But my friends is crazy about everything that is Final Fantasy. So Im going to continue watching it. Plus I am starting to actually like it after watching the first volume over again and after buying the second vol.
I think I messed up on the quote. Oh, well.

Did FFU have any recurring themes that are found in the games at all? I know it would be too much to ask to have characters from the games, but were the old summons in the anime, at least? And is FFU an anime or a Manga? I thought it was just a manga, but that would seem to not be the case after reading some of these posts...
