I like her character - YYH just wouldn't be the same without her. ^_^; She's a loving ditz and pretty much the 'guide' for what goes on in the anime, leading them from one thing to another (or leading the girls during the dark tournament). Plus, she's just funny. ;p She's as good as Kuwa when it comes to being comic relief.
The only thing I don't like about her is the Phillipine KuramaxBotan pairing. They barely speak to each other and as far as I'm concerned, she'd make a good girlfriend for Yusuke (see the longer movie) but is best suited for Koenma (preferably in his 'adult' form). I'm just glad the American dub hasn't started rewriting their lines to make any 'new' canon pairings with her. Half the fun is that she's herself, not reliant like Keiko (she's just there to save/spur on Yusuke, and for some comedy now and then), or 'simple cuteness' like Yukina. Botan is just fun all around.
Just think of her bashing people with baseball bats - that's my kind of female character. ;p Her and Shizuru are my favorites (though Yukina gets top notch for being related to Hiei, naturally).
