It matters not. Even cornered to my last breath I remain who and what I am I will not hide nor tremble. Nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is doom defiant. – Doctor Victor Von Doom -

Hmm... Outlaw Star had the better story arc because... well... it was an actual story arc, unlike CB which had about five episodes that were part of the story. But Cowboy Bebop was more artsy, had better writing and higher production values. However, it doesn't have as much replay value as Outlaw Star. Voice Acting was similar for the dub versions (mainly due to same teams) but for Japanese you have the choice of generic voices (Outlaw Star) vs. mis-matched voices (Cowboy Bebop). I will come down to saying Cowboy Bebop is the better series, even though I have no desire to own it and I have the entire collection of Outlaw Star (yes, I have seen the entirty of Cowboy Bebop on DVD).
Oh, and the crew of the Outlaw Star are all, technically, mercinaries (and the same could be said for the crew of Cowboy Bebop). They just do not fit Outlaw Star's wierd definition of mercinary. Hell, if they really were outlaws they should have been on wanted posters and chased around by the space forces, not just the pirates.
