Two different versions of Rurouni Kenshin?

So let me get this straight. From what I understand, Nobuhiro Watsuki created the word "Rurouni". "Rurouni" can't be found in a kanji dictionary, so it's a play on words off of "ronin", meaning "wandering/masterless samurai".
Did I get that right?

It might be a dual translation since Wanderer and samurai are so often attributed to eachother.

Rurouni = Wanderer, Kenshin = dedication, heart of sword, etc.
