Oh man, do I hear yah. I went into a local shop one day and was scanning for rare NES titles to bulk up my collection. I spotted a copy of Toki there, and the guy is like "Alright! You really DO know your games! I get all these people come in here and they go 'WOAH!! YOU GOT EXCITEBIKE!' even though that game is so common and well known that it ain't even funny!"
Now I've been here for a couple of days now trying to get conversations going about Osamu Tezuka cause, well, I've been on a Tezuka kick ever since I picked up Astro Boy: Omega Factor for GBA. Surprised not more people have played it since it IS from Treasure!
But man, the sheer lack of interest or attention paid to anything I've said is mind boggling. Sure I'm new here, but I know anime just as well as the rest of the people!
I mean come on! I put a 5 page essay in the Anime and American Culture thread which I thought was well written and covered several key points and... nothing! Not even a peep about a single thing I've written. Yeesh! What is take to get noticed around here!
Oh, and to follow the topic... yes I've played FF6, I played it back when it was called FFIII and I think that you're better off finding the SNES copy to dodge slow downs when using Edgar's Auto-Crossbow. No slowdown on SNES... slowdown on PS1 re-release... go figure!

P.S. And as for finding the SNES copy... hope you got a fat wallet!

I luckily own a copy of FFIII, but when I bought it, I had no idea that later on in life that it would be worth so much of value! Oh, and Otaku, yea I've noticed that too about Edgar's Auto Crossbow, since I got the anthology FFVI, there has been lots of slowdowns compared to my Snes copy! Its funny the little things you notice when playing your oldies!
This life of mine is ending, my soul devouring me whole, but I wont give in to my destruction, my being of darkness

One of the great things about playing FF VI on the SNES was the interesting things that happened the longer you played. I'm speaking of the overheating issues the carts had that did some pretty screwy things to the game play. I remember having over 200 greyed out fire spells on someone's magic list at one point and having one of Mog's dances summon Setser's ship. Crazy things like that made my day.
I wonder why no other FF game had that many playable characters (22 i believe). The diversity of characters (although not as many as the Sukiden series, THAT was simply crazy) was a fun feature for RPGs that sort of went away...

Heh.. i ended up doing the same thing in 6 and 7... pumping my characters up so much that i wasn't hit by a single attack in the final battle, although that was a lot easier to do in 7 i think...

I liked how I could plan who would be fighting in order and then killing off my own guys to get my full health goon squad to royally f-up Kefka. Celes, the two brothers, and I still cannot remember that ninja's name. With Celes keeping everyone alive, the brothers smacking on Kefka and the Ninja throwing every piece of gear I had at him, I quickly kicked his ass.
The most expedient way to avert crisis is always by the indiscriminate extinction of anything that stands in your way.

The ninja's name was shadow and I didn't like or use him, he was way too unreliable in the begining.
I had Terra, Celes, Sabin and Edgar in my Kefka (why do I keep thinking Kafka?) killing party. But Terra was the only one who actually did anything: X-Magic + Quick + Economizer = 8 Ultimas per turn costing 8 MP = 79992 damage per enemy. Poor Kefka, didn't last long.
