Your freakin awsome.
I agree completely. I go to college, I pass my classes and go to work. I do post on boards a lot. Almost 1000 posts in eight months on ayenee. I do know my limits and what is real and what isn't. I plan on watching anime my whole life, it isn't something that you throw away as a kid. Because unlike bugs bunny or mickey mouse anime can be severely geared towards adults.
This is another thing that is kind of pissing me off right now and I need to vent and get opinions. I love to watch anime. I stay away from the crude stuff and just stick with the ones I know are decent. However I have people saying I'm immature or a geek for liking anime. But yet these same people spend hours watching reality based T.V. shows.
Now in my opinion reality shows are about as interesting and good as a route canal.
So my question is, can anime ever make it past the stereotype as a kids thing in this country or is doomed to suffer the fate of being called kids shows?
I know some will argue it's made it past that point and I'll give you credit and say it has happened but only to a select few. In general it's widely accepted as kids entertainment and nothing more.

Get out of my head, because I completely agree with you. My dad used to turn his head when I'd watch anime because he thought it was for little kids too. With channels like Nick, this country will never get it past their heads that people twice my age love it! Animation is considered kids entertainment. That's why when the Yugioh movie came out, the only way I was going was if I took my little brother along. It's just that otakus don't go around Wal-Mart screaming "I love anime!" without being looked at funny while anyone saying they love reality tv is welcomed with open arms. Oh and 2 things...1)I will also watch anime forever and 2) my dad actually accepted that fact that I watch anime and admitted he used to watch it when he was young but somehow lost interest in it.

I think as long as Yu-Gi-oh and pokemon are still huge among kids, anime will never lose it's rap. My parents still haven't gotten out the idea I'm going to grow out of it. I think they wanted me to but it definately didn't work.
Anime isn't evil or just for kids. If you look at some of the plots and characters designs in anime you'll see they are a lot deeper than most T.V. shows you see. One of these I have grown to love is Ah! My Goddess.
I think some may think I'm a little weird but hey three hot goddesses, one guy, you cannot go wrong there.
But a show like that has such a great plot and amazing ideas that you can't classify it as a kids show.
I think once people start to realize how anime is influencing the movie and T.V. industry then they will understand. I'm thinking these anime live action movies will help that along.
Oh and my mom admitts she watched it once with my two older brothers when they were living with us but never got into it. I do have a friend who's family watched DBZ religiously.
As for reality T.V. shows. They should be considered kids entertainment because the people act like little children on those shows. It's rather pitiful. My super sweet sixteen on MTV makes me want to puke. Ungratefull little brats ~_~

1) Yes some anime have very deep storylines that younger kids wouldn't get. Are you kidding? Belldandy is gorgeous!!!
2)The family that watched DBZ religiously scares me, although I do that with Sailor Moon and I do like DBZ too.
3) I don't watch reality. I just watch the Apprentice. But some reality shows are stupid and never needed to be made.
4) If people would open their eyes and see how much influence anime has on this country's movie and tv industry, then maybe the world would be a better place.
5) Now that my dad has accepted my anime fandom, I can honestly say I don't have to grow out of it. He even came up to my room while I was watching subbed Cardcaptor Sakura and watched some of it and I think it just blows his mind by what I watch.

I do like certain ones like Score. That actually has a good theme to it. Look past the beauty and see what's inside. Good concept. Pimp my ride is always fun to watch. Odly depressing since I can't be on it XD *looks at his 95 stratus and shudders*
But my parents will come in see I'm watching anime, roll their eyes, and then leave. I know they may not like it but it pisses me off that they think it's childish. My younger sister (she's 20) thinks it's for kids as well. They really have no idea because they wont have a open mind.
And yes belldandy is a major hottie. Not to mention the fact her personality is almost to perfect. I would love to see that anime as a live action movie. It could be so good.
I think a big step happened when Appleseed was shown in theaters.
I hate to admitt this but I will, I used to love sailor moon. I had the biggest crush on sailor mercury when I was twelve >^_^<
I still watch it at night religiously. My new found obsession is FMA and Ah! My Goddess. I'm collecting the mange first.

I also love Pimp My Ride! ::looks at her 92 chevy blazer:: Many people do have close minds when it comes to anime fans. Ah My Goddess would be a cool in live action as long as they get equally gorgeous people to play the 3 goddesses. AMG is the coolest manga and my friend from the club let my borrow the first 23 episodes of the original version. It's cool! I saw Appleseed at the club too and I didn't think I'd like it but I did and we watched FF7 for movie night and I thought that was cool too even though computerized anime and Final Fantasy aren't things I'm into.

I'm wondering if this CG animation like in appleseed will be what the next generation of anime will be like. i am sure they have better animation but will it end up all being CG?
I mean some parts of appleseed ended up looking very real. Which was a nice change in my opinion.
I am sure they will eventually understand the influence anime has.
There is rumor of a live action Ninja Scroll movie coming out. You can buy the entire series for 33 bucks at wal-mart.
I have yet to see AMG the series but I'm dieing to see it. I just need money first lol.
I'm hoping to see major animes turning into live action to prove to people that this kind of product doesn't apeal to just kids. I actually had to tell some people that the movie Van helsing derived some of it's content from the anime Hellsing. That threw them for a loop.

I was kind of wondering that too. Since technology almost rules over everything if everything anime won't be computerized in future years. Some of the scenes did look totally real. It was kind of scary how real they were. It would be nice to see how people envision anime as live action. Have you seen PGSM, the live action Sailor Moon? If you have what did you think and if you haven't then don't worry. I don't think many people liked it and only hardcore fans loved it! I haven't seen it, just screencaps and clips. I think it looks cool. You have to read and see AMG, it's just so cool. I hope you eventually get to see it.

It's on my christmas list of things to buy for myself. Along with 25 other different series of anime lol
I have not seen the live action sailor moon. I have heard of it but not much more. i heard there was a live action gundam series as well but I haven't heard much more of that as well.
I will admitt I still like sailor moon. It wasn't my first anime but one of the first few I saw so it holds a place in my heart. Especially the little ending with sailor moon says. lmao.
That was so corny. It's like watching DBZ and having Vegeta says.
Vegeta Says: "Kiss my a**"
I do think it will be the future of anime but I'm not sure if many otaku's will apreciate it. There's something to be liked about original hand drawn anime. *shrugs* i'm sure it will be good no matter what.
Now my question is whether or not hollywood could see the profit margin from making anime live action.

I've got the first 4 seasons of Sailor Moon on my Amazon.com wishlist. The first 2 seasons of Pokemon and Sailor Moon really are dear to me. They bring memories. Sailor Moon says was funny but stupid because in the mid 90's kids needed life lessons along with watching cartoons. A live action Gundam Series? Seriously? That would be cool and scary at the same time. Vegeta is my favorite DBZ character. I think computerized anime has it's fanbase but I think there will always be fans of hand drawn anime and it will never go away. They'll just use better technology to help them along with the drawing process. Is it me or is this becoming a 2 sided conversation?
