Evangelion VS. Rahxephon

Post by LightHawkEva » Sun Jan 15, 2006 8:15 pm

lets see in a fight between the xephon and unit 01. theyre about the same height and make. evas best feature is their AT field. but unit 01 can go berserk and kick some ass. the xephons best feature is its glowing red fist of power that doesnt even have to touch you to kill you. and that weird scream attack, i think. and it can fly. i think it be like a tie if they both went all out. yeah.

In the Anime Insider magazine, Eva was beaten by Wing Gundam, then Eva beat Fredom Gundam, I would like to see Eva and Rahxephon. I wonder who would win between Sephiroth and Grey Fox (aka Cyborg Ninja).

You know Batman wouldn't allow it.

I like both, though I tend to like RahXephon a little better, mostly because of the way the ending came together. Plus I'm a sucker for romance. However, I think they both set out to do entirely different things (despite the similarities) and both do what they were meant to do very well. I like the story and characters in RahXephon. It was well developed, but explained in a big epiphany moment at the end. Eva sets out to break all of your expectations for a story IMO. The main character is whiny and very non heroic and *spoiler* doesn't save the world at the end. Generally exactly the opposite of what comes out of this genre. Not to mention all all of the philosophy that makes you wonder what the hell is going on. I think Rah is more on the emotional side of the scale while Eva is more on the intellectual side at times (at least that's what seems to be intended). Comparing the two is like comparing different foods: what you like depends on what you are expecting out of it.

If it came down to a battle of the 'god' machines...both EVA-01 and RahXephon are probably gonna get wasted by Ideon (...between a cannon that can eliminate ANYTHING in its line of fire (...and is large enough you'd have to be pretty damn speedy to clear it) and the nice little bonus it has going for it (i.e. If it's destroyed, the whole universe goes to Hell with it) it's pretty well got the both of 'em outclassed.)

Q: who is ideon?

Imageclick image

A: Space Runaway Ideon premiered on Japanese Television in 1980. It was the anime created by Yoshiyuki Tomino immediately after his most famous work, Gundam. Featuring the most powerful mecha of all time, the Ideon, the show (also known as Legendary Giant God Ideon) ran for 39 episodes before being cancelled with a mere 4 episodes left. It would be over a year before Ideon finally was finished, with the release of two movies, A Contact, which was a compilation of the series, and Be Invoked, which finished the show off once and for all. On its surface just one of the most common shows in anime, a giant robot show, Ideon nonetheless was a very unique and groundbreaking show, having a big influence on later works like Evangelion. Having never been released in America, or even fansubbed, its unfortunately never been given the opportunity to be as popular on these shores as it has been in Japan.

Update to that article:
Actually, much to many people's suprise, Ideon is finally being fansubbed. Shin-Getter's already released the first 13 episodes and are halfway done with 14. Plans have also been made to sub the movies afterwards.

Dang!! That's a big gun. But not as cool as Gundam Wing Zero Custom's Twin Buster Cannon.
