A COOKIE? GIVE ME ONE!! besides it is pretty much like god punishing them. how else could u explain the first and 2nd impact? they came because of humans trying to be god, infact..we already are playing god by cloing animals and plants so really we should be expecting a massive onslaught soon

Cloning isn't playing god. It's not playing God until we get into artificial evolution.

I've heard different opinions about first impact but it didnt have anything to do with humanity being punished
the theory holds up if you consider Adam 'god', but he really wasnt in the sense you're thinking of. Not to mention that second impact was really initiated by gendo and the crew members who left before it happened. The chance of an angel contacting Adam directly was too grave, so they kept the embryo and got Adam to self-destruct basically
at least thats what it said in those documents Kaji gave Misato :/

btw people aren't even close to playing god, we're really pretty far down on the evolutionary path. We are on the upswing though which is good. Once humanity evolves out of the physical realm and begins to populate the astral and higher is when we'll begin to start scraping the ice of becoming gods

yea taht's why by the time of the end of evangelion Adam was back again and fully grown and because of Ri being a crucial angels according to the theory of humans become the fina angel of the impact it began the end and the egg of lillth came back, after this as u saw the mass crosses around the earth was obivosuly everyone dead and the fate relyed on a single boy...but anyway it's really hard to explain in a big ass argument..and i said it's LIKE god punishing them, if it wasn't punishment...that what is it? a blessing? don't thnik so

Adam never grew back, he joined with lillith again when Rei took the embryo along with gendo's hand into lillith's body but thats all. The sacred union between the two is what allowed the egg to be created and humanity returned to its origin (which according to Eva was adam and lillith).
And yes! it was a blessing. The crosses sweeping across the earth were part of instrumentality, which gendo and seele had been trying to reach from the beginning. It was a blessing. Everything didn't die, humans artifically evolved and were all joined together. All minds became one, complementing each other and filling in the emptiness of the soul of man. The idea was to create a perfect world, and that would have happened, but shinji rejected it as not reality and his remaining individuality caused the whole thing to fall apart :\
