Hating evangelion means you are not a true anime fan? I just don't see how that's possible. I don't like eva much, but I still think I am a fan of anime.
And yeah.. Eva IS over-rated. People will argue left and right about why they like it, but I think it all boils down to that it's popular because of the "defying god" element more than anything. WHy you choose to like a show is up to you though, so by all means...

And then.. why don't the ops just ban baggies? He's sitting here, in an anime forum mind you, dissing anime fans and saying that delving into the mindset of a show is dumb. Isn't that what most anime fans do? I see it all the time. I seriously don't know why there isn't a lynch mob of anime fans at his door.

he was banned for awhile and it sucked
anyway how good eva is, like most things, boils down to the mindset of the person watching it. If you buy eva because everyone says its so great and is the best anime ever then you'll watch it much more critically. As for me, I bought it because I saw it at FYE 2 years ago (course back then it was still record town) and thought it looked cool. Of course I loved it :/
never watch anything expecting too much or you'll always be dissapointed, watching with little or no expectations at all usually makes things the most enjoyable in my experience

My mate showed me the first ep on crappy VHS about 4 years ago, before much of the hype. I thought it looked cool, the first episode seemed promising, and then they turned what I thought to be another random Mech anime into...erm....what category does that come under?

I thought it was alright, but I admit I disliked it more when it got more hyped, and it IS over-rated, I believe most people can agree with that, whether they like it or not.

That's true. Of course, baggies does seem to focus on me.

So it's probably just that it's more annoying for me than anyone else. But then again, I'd still be annoyed at the trollish behavior, no matter who it was directed at.
As for totally dissing on someone just because they hate eva... yeah... there's quite a bit of maturity lacking there.

Dude.. first of all, this guy cataclysm is a solid freak. I mean eva is awsome and alot of the episodes i think about 80% of the people here would enjoy watching again. and second, britney spears sucks so if you dont like her, then it doesnt mean you dont like music. See, eva is a really good anime to most people including me, and admit it, it's a great anime in general, but britney spears isnt great music in general. See the difference? by the way 'fucking prick'...chill out man its not like i was making fun of you anyway

What does your view on Cataclysm got to do with anything?

And just because you're close minded about other people's opinions doesn't mean everyone has to. And the Britney thing is an example, whether 99% of people think shes the best or 1%. Also, you're using the popularity of Eva on THIS board, as though it represents the entire anime fandoms opinion. So you give a post and start swearing, so then I swear, so then you say chill out. I'm well aware that Eva is not a mech anime, if you could read properly you'd realise I said: "what I thought to be another random Mech anime". Get it now? And don't assume anything, I have seen the whole series, otherwise I'd be in no position to give such generalised opinions, unless I went off on people without fully realising whats going on.
