firstly I wasn't talking about the tank in SAC, I was talking about the one in the ending sequence of the movie
well anyway if I'm following right (don't know how TGWLT fits into all this but) your saying, like, since we don't create anime we don't create these amvs we enjoy? On the contrary I believe creation is an idea, doesn't really have an effect on matter, since we DO create the idea put behind our amvs, we DO create our amvs! This idea wasn't put there by something else, you thought of it, if you didn't copy some other concept (*cough* linkin ball z), you claim it's originality. What's the problem??
To bring it into a more philosophical (shit) way of speaking our individuality is claimed by our ability to portray originality. Computers cannot think independent thoughts, they have no individuality, they need a programmer to program in their instructions, no originality CAN be claimed. Humans, however, are original, even though they cannot create matter (except in reproduction ). Originality is a frame of mind, not based on 'being first' or putting something NEW together. It could be just a 'breath of fresh air' if you are the only one who claims that concept than, in my mind, you claim (a piece of) the originality.
wow that's the smartest thing I said all day

Re: Philosophy in Anime
I agree with this. Clearly, if you were to edit to a clip adding your own subs where most people wouldn't get what they are really saying (at least I wouldn't), you would be creating. Even if the drawing is the same, and even if the voices are the same, you could still be creating over something that had another idea behind. The same would apply using a funny song with an anime. At least that's how most comedies I saw worked. In the case you're making, let's say, a drama, the originality would be based on the re-telling value of the AMV itself, that's what I think. You're not necessarily "creating" in that case, since you're showing what really happened, but the re-telling value is as high and important as the creating one, since it's in it the fact that the message to the viewer is received or not.Knowname wrote: well anyway if I'm following right (don't know how TGWLT fits into all this but) your saying, like, since we don't create anime we don't create these amvs we enjoy?
