Yes, "a lot of people" who need to get their heads examined.

Again, if you base your self-esteem on something like anime or your car, that's just sad.

Oh well, you're only making yourselves miserable in the end. Do what you like. :)

My dvds are already crowded... Everyone keeps bugging me to borrow them..

But, I don't base my self-esteem on anything of the sort.
Actually, I don't really have any self-esteem so finding something to base it on is unnecessary.

SarahtheBoring wrote:Wrong! This is not diminished the more it's shared. The anime does not change when more people watch it. Your DVDs are not going to get "crowded" because a thousand more people bought copies of it.

Bad analogy.
that seems harsh, just because you don't agree I'm wrong.....
What I was trying to explain was a perception darls...

It was never your beach, but in finding it and thinking it can be something thats for you and a select few share, you will have a tendacy to get annoyed when the masses flock to it..[/color]

Well said! I think that we have all been there before, and if you are a surfer dude then you can really appreciate that example. However you just have to accept that your intimate time with that which you are horading is over, and now it's time to share. All knowldge and information wants to be free. You can't selfishly hold on to it forever. The only thing you can do is lose it forever, and then you'll wish you had shared it.

I am impressed with the amount of mature people in this discussion. I expected to run into alot more young elitist type people here, but anime fans seem to be a more mature audience for the most part.

At my university just about all students like Anime, and some are even fanatical about it. If you don't know that Anime is already main stream then you need to open your eyes. Even "regular" cartoons have been influenced (and improved) by Anime.

If you wanted to be in the elite Anime crowd then sorry but you have already missed the boat. That boat sailed in the 1980s.

That shouldn't stop you from enjoying it
so enjoy...
