Way back when the channel was starting out, it was their early experiments with broadcasting anime. They showed three movies in one night: Vampire Hunter D, Twilight of the Cockroaches (lame and freaky) and Robot Carnival (I only saw half of that, very cool though). This little marathon was done 3 or 4 times. Don't ask me if the movies were un-cut, I can't remember.angelx03 wrote: Really? Since when did Vampire Hunter D ever air on Cartoon Network?

This was the thing that got me into the whole loop, yea, but I've been watching anime way before that.
Speedracer, Voltron and Transformers I remember vividly, but I think I saw Macross even before that (I was 6 or so... my memory of it is still very blurry).
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

First anime I saw without realising it was anime: Battle of the Planets aka G-Force aka Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. Loved that show.
Then after that Astro Boy, Robotech (neither of which I liked), Force Five (which I thought was rather good) and Voltron (which back in the day I thought rocked). And a few more which I've probably forgotten.
But what really launched me into the realm of otaku-dom was Sailor Moon. Bless her sailor fuku-ed body.

Let's See...
Robotech, Transformers (original), Speed Racer (midnights on MTV), Voltron, Thundercats...
First KNOWN anime? The Guyver.
Saw a preview for the live action movie on The Channel Channel, then me and my cousin found the anime at Blockbuster instead of the movie. Ever since then, hooked. Both of us.

ha ha ha... Before I knew what anime was? Gigantor. Robotech. Transformers. Thundercats. Etc. All the cartoons I watched from 6-8 were 'anime'.
But, My very first real anime was Vampire Hunter D... and I was like, 13 or 14. It was immediately followed by Riding Bean. back to back. after that, I depended on the Sci-Fi channel to gimme my anime. I saw tons. Evangelion is fairly recent for me, but I moved off of my Eva obsession when i watched Noir. I went crazy and made a whole bunch of useless animated gifs with premiere from noir. ha ha ha. Still obsessed with the music from it, too.
