Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch.
It came riding in on Full Moon's success, and just left a bad aftertaste. I mean its somewhat cute and almost whackable. But good lord its just so bad.

Card Captor Sakura has nothing to do with playing cards. And "card captors" as it was shown as on Kids WB, was completely butchered. They didn't even show the first five episodes. I personally think that the series is quite good.

That's what they're based on...Clow used them to fortell the future...like his version of Tarot cards, there isn't any actual real similarities between them and an actual deck however...or maybe that's just something found in the manga. Meh whatever.
