Jeeze, you guys are making all IY fans look bad - three threads in the last week and none of the regular IY fans posting can hold more than a 2 sentence max conversation. Tallon aims to be off-topic and annoying. What's your excuse? Why is everyone spurring him on instead of sticking to the topic? If you like the anime so much, I'd think this would be an interesting idea to look at instead of whining back and forth. You might as well hop back over to the other IY thread and continue the 'who's hotter' mockery of a debate. ~_~
Kenshin versus Inuyasha
First, which Kenshin? If it were the battousai, then he'd be a cold blooded killer with excellent lack of caring as to whether or not his opponent is a nice guy outside the battlefield. He'd be going for Inuyasha's throat, with super speed and a very sharp swift blade. Inuyasha would have his own speed and jumping (demon nature) skills but it wouldn't be faster than Kenshin's super-'god-like' speed. Inuyasha does have his coat which is supposed to block fire and some attacks - but he gets it ripped all the time from claws and such. Kenshin would go right through it. As far as defense goes, Inuyasha has none aside from his sword which he only uses in slow attacks (slow because it's heavy and works best at a distance). His lack of speed would make him unable to block Kenshin's fast sword.
Kenshin has his speed and sword to block attacks, but he can also jump just as inhumanly high and far as Inuyasha can. Add to that his ability to read opponents and it's doubtful he'd even come close to getting hit - he'd be dodging before Inuyasha finished swinging his clunky weapon.
The *real* fight would come when Inuyasha goes berserker - using his claws. Those are his natural weapons, and they're what would make the battle. Kenshin may be fast at blocking with his sword but against two claws capable of tearing through steel/flesh/stone - he'd have some trouble. And while Inuyasha is resistant to physical attacks (how many times is he slammed into the ground per episode?), Kenshin has human skin - easily sliced and diced. It would come down to speed, pure and simple - and whether or not Kenshin can cut with his sword when his opponent is right on top of him (claws = close combat).
If Kenshin could kill Inuyasha before he went berserk, then he'd win. If he didn't do it quickly enough, and was facing pure demon-natured Inuyasha, I don't think he'd be able to block his claws or his speed and demon-enhanced resistance to normal blades.
Now...if we're talking about post-rurouni Kenshin (after he meets Kaoru and stops wandering), then he'd lose. The only chance he'd have against Inuyasha would be with a real blade and the willingness to fight to the death. Inuyasha might be a nice person, but when he's cornered his demon nature is going to come out in a last-ditch survival instinct. And the no-kill Kenshin doesn't have any attacks that would knock Inuyasha out. Inuyasha is resistant to blows (non-cutting since Kenshin doesn't draw blood), so he would have to be killed to be defeated.
Conclusion?
Kenshin if he were Battousai and managed to get close before Inu loses his sword during the fight and goes berserk.
Berserk Inuyasha - wins no matter which Kenshin it is.
No-kill Kenshin - he'd beat human Inuyasha but wouldn't stand a chance against his hanyou or demon aspects.

Hmm, good points all, but you forgot about Inyasha's Sangen Tetsou/blood claws attack. That would give him a saturation/ area attack that he could use while in Hanyou form. While this doesn't seem like all that bad, it 'should' be enough to damage Kenshin.Arigatomyna wrote:
Lots of stuff
On the other hand Inuyasha travels with a pretty trusting group, so probably they'd just let Kenshin the battousai just walk up and he'd get a sword stuck in his eye while he was arguing with Kagome.
On that note, since Inuysha is generally part of a group, would be get group support during this fight? I mean, could the cat flame him, or shippo distract him with an illusion?

I don't think it's that kind of match - I took it for a one-on-one battle, a versus thread.madbunny wrote:On that note, since Inuysha is generally part of a group, would be get group support during this fight? I mean, could the cat flame him, or shippo distract him with an illusion?
If you were including IY's group, you'd have to include Kenshin's comrades as well. I don't know about the OVA timeline, but in the Kyoto arc Kenshin could be 'grouped' with Saitoh, Hiko, Sano, Aoshi - four people more than powerful enough to match up with Miroku, Sango, Kagome, and Sango's cat (I don't think Shipou would be very useful except in diversion/escape tactics).
And if you were doing that sort of battle, there are way too many things to consider. I mean, without Naraku's wasps, Miroku could just suck Kenshin and his friends up in one poof - fight over. ^_^;

i would have to say i agree, depending on the different attitudes that each charecter would reach there could be many different out comes. I think with both of their fighting skills that it would be a close match no matter what, they are both very persistent. Conclusion?

also it is just a one on one match, that's what i intended anyways when i asked this sorr should have been more clearer.[/quote]
