Desensitized? I think so!
AKIRA!
I remember vaguely watching Speed Racer when I was little and I remember seeing Sailor Moon, but I didn't even really know what anime was until middle 8th grade - back then I called it Japanimation b/c I didn't know any better.
Anyways...my mom and I were in in the library one day (near the end of my 8th grade year) and she was looking at movies. I was just kinda standing around - not really looking at anything. Then, she turned around and said something along the lines of, "Hey! Angel, I found one of those Japa...Japanime things you like."
It was rated R and my mom wanted to preview it first, but she, my sister, and I ended up watching the whole thing together anyway.
During the part when Tetsuo was having hallucinations and he thought his bowels were falling out, my mom and sister were writhing in their seats. Me? I was saying, "Ewww...", "Hahaha! He's hallucinating!" *points at TV screen*, etc.
The library still has it and I see it on the shelf every time we go in there, but...*sigh* she won't let me watch it again. Phooey!
She thinks I'm wierd because animated depictions of gore don't bother me.

WOW! I've only been into anime for roughly two years. I guess that would make you a veteran or something. Heh.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:Pre Knowledge of Anime (Age 4 - 7)

Well the dragonball I saw was in French, because the only channel you could fing anime was a French channel, there I really watched a lot of anime when I was let me think 5 years old and ever since I watched anime that would be say 15 years of anime. But I really got into anime just 2 years ago with the broadcast of gundam wing it was the first time anime was broadcasted in Belgium.

Its an odd thing, Im 19 right now and I've been watching anime from since I can remember but I dont consider it that much of my life. And even though I enjoy anime I dont try to saturate myself with the anime life style.SapphireBlaze wrote:WOW! I've only been into anime for roughly two years. The first anime i ever was Speed racer but at the time i didnt know it was a japanese anime i just thought it was just another good cartoon that my mom used to watch when she was a kid.
Then fuckin years later i mean years later i was flipping thourgh the channles to find something to watch and i saw a cartoon that didnt look american so i kinda thought it was japanese and it was. and it was Dragonball Z, so DBZ and Speed Racer was the first anime i ever saw.
then i came to know a bunch of good animes like escaflowne, ranma 1/2, love hina, and other good animes like kaleidostar and Aa! megami-sama trigun and rahxephon. But dragonball z will never grow old it will live on along side with all the other good animes
