Perfect Blue still gets me with a few scenes, that and the combination of no sleep for three days added to the insanity
"I've spent the last ten years of my life defending my country, I've sacrificed for it, fought for it, and bled for it, now it's time I got something back, so please just respect me and my fellow Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines as we continue to do this job."

Well, since the title of this thread is most disturbing, meaning that if you had to compare what disturbed you the most, or came closest to it, (for all those would-be "that's not disturbing" or "nothing disturbs me" people) I would have to say mine is from Hellsing:
Could be a spoiler, man wrote:In the episode with the Valentine Brothers, the fight between the really fast guy with the long blonde hair and Alucard had a disturbing ending. The guy loses his legs and is trying to run, all the while wimpering like a child. Alucard becomes disapointed in the fight and kills him. Seemed like killing an innocent to me, so thusly was disturbing.

Graphic means Disturbing? Really?

I would have to say Narutaru only because it take the appearance of a kids show AND not to mention the first ep plays out like one (to a degree). I find that a little disturbing, though the twist makes the show very compelling to watch (to find out what happens of course). Yes, the show does get very graphic and menacing, though revenge is a concept well covered in many shows. I doubt this is the worst anime has to offer. More or less I think it's the sheer contrast in which the show presented these things that makes it feel worse.

Another show I recently finished watching was Alien 9. Jsut what exactly are they trying to do to Otani? That poor girl. Even after...

My lil' rant ends... kinda...I shall be buying Alien 9 and the manga (see if I can pull anything out of the manga that they blasted at us in episode4). I think it is a very powerful show, and the world they live in is incredibly unique and well thought out IMHO.

Interesting that you should mention Alien 9. It definately fits your definition of disturbing, yet packaged in a cute wrapping. The manga is as of yet incomplete, but (without getting too far into spoiler territory) gets very strange and a little vicious at times; especially when you start dealing with the idea of people being controlled and subjugated against their will.

Well, I don't really get "disturbed" by that kind of stuff...

o_O;; So I wouldn't really know of any disturbing anime moments. (You know, I almost accidentally typed disturbating? It was because of the A in Anime which was the next word. Anime + Disturbing = Disturbating. XD )

I'll just hang around and see what freaks you people out. :P

Yeah, I have to agree with whoever said GANTZ is pretty disturbing. First, this man/computer thing calling itself GANTZ brings people back from the dead, then it makes them take part in some kind of sick videogame-like missions.

But that isn't what has disturbed me about the show, it's that the targets they are told to kill usually seem like pretty harmless people until they are threatened.

I'm not sure if this is in league with the rest of the disturbing choices posted here, but the episode in Fushigi Yuugi where Tamahome's whole family was slaughtered really got to me. Mostly because of the fact that the majority were all very small children/toddlers. Any killing/abuse of small children disturbs me and really depresses me in general. :x

There is that scene in 'Now and Then Here and There' where Sara gets taken to a door and pulled inside by a weird looking guy (sort of like that guy from Perfect Blue now that I think of it). We are not told really what has happened. The soldiers stand there for a second with an upset look on their faces.

Akira's ending is one of the most disturbing in anime history. Gruesome, mysterious, leaving questions unaswered.
Ninja Ressurection, damn, that was one ofthe most pointelss animes i've ever seen. After finishing it I was left with a really nasty feeling that i could have done some better things during the time i watched it. And that's disturbing for me.Also, but not in the disturbing category, was when i first saw an amv for ninja scroll, me being used to soft stuff till then like sailor moon and stuff, yu-ghi-oh, one piece, dbz, etc. and saw that stone guy ripping a man's arms and the chick just stood there, and afterwards she got raped, that was like, wow are there such violent animes? Now i'm used to all that, but back then it was like a little shock...
