I would have to say Jin-Roh, I don't think I've ever been more moved by a film...

I might be in a minority on this,
but did anyone else find Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket moving?
The ending episode of this was probably the first time I ever got choked up over an anime.

Onegai Teacher, my # 1 anime:

funny
good original character design
[seksy too]
made me cry like a [***]

Then there's my ULTIMATE tear jerker...

I've not seen Grave of the Fireflies but it's being mentioned so much, I think I'll rent it later...

But for most moving in my book

AI YORI AOSHI...

Put the fanservice aside for a split second damn it and listen...

Record breaking: Ai Yori Aoshi made me sob by ep 3!!!!!!! Don't know why. I guess I got super attached to the characters that quickly...

[the fact that Naru and Kei's voices are used again kind of helps too...]
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Dude... seriously. I've seen the first three episodes. That was just so... depressing... what they did to poor Sara. If it had been live action and not animated it may have genuinely moved me close to tears.

Yet another list:

Lain - had me crying in bed while thinking about it weeks after watching it

Eva - yeah it's obvious, I just fell for the characters, also, the movie was an extremely emotional experience for me

Bebop - that ending never fails to get to me, especially the climax to Faye's story

FLCL - I can't quite put my finger on what I find moving about this anime but somehow at moments, it manages to show insane action and be kind of touching at the same time, if only I had a feather's idea of what it meant...if it means anything of course

Kiki's Delivery Service - I confess, I haven't seen all the Miazaki movie's yet but this one might be my favorite, it's just so sweet and beautiful, it feels like a picture book you might've read when you were a kid but never fully apprieciated until you grew up

Kare Kano - Like Eva, the characters get to me, I can't help but love it, it's the best romace I've seen in an anime

You should read my review at Anime Tourist.

Gundam 0080 is very powerful...and another anime that deals with the tragedies of war.

Video Girl Ai has to be the most moving anime I can think of. Princess Nine and the Battle Athletess TV series (Battle Athletes Victory) also definitely have their moments (yeah, I've got a weakness for Shoujo sports anime...).

0080 is also quite impactful. It seems there are far more examples of realistic and thoughtful presentations on the effects of war (both on civilians and soldiers alike) in anime than in domestic media fare...

Saber Marionette J got pretty moving towards the end. It starts out really goofy. I never thought it would end up getting so serious towards the end.

I also found Spring & Chaos to be pretty emotional and moving.

Urusei Yatsura has plenty of moving moments! I hate to see lum cry! And lets not forget about arcadia of my youth.

Come to think of it the last ep of Berserk was moving, but only in the strictly disturbing way...
