What books would you like to see made into an anime?

Actually, the one director I'd personally love to see try and adapt the books would be interesting to see working with Bones (tricky though, since most of his work seems to be with Sunrise)Undertow wrote:Dune would be the best. The entire series of books has a very anime feel to it, and would come out great, especially when it's done by a studio that has experience in weird and strange anime that are heavy on story, like Bones (Rahxephon is a perfect example of that).
(Between his work on Zeta Gundam, Turn A, and Dunbine, I'm officially convinced Yoshiyuki Tomino has a pretty solid handle on how Herbert's world works
(with Dunbine he did a pretty good job with the quasi-feudal system, Turn A he showed he can balance both the technologically advanced with the organic down-to-earth feel, and some of how Newtype evolution was handled in Zeta would lead one to believe he's got a pretty good idea of how the Kwisatz Haderach scenario could be handled.)
...Just a thought.

Another author who's works might make interesting anime is Andre Norton, particularly the Witch World series. Lots of supernatural mixed with feudal kingdoms and scifi, I think the Japanese would be good at creating an anime from this stuff.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

I'm not sure Pratchett would look good as anime. I'm too taken in by Paul Kidby's illustrations too see the characters in any other style. They would end up too...out of character for my liking, if in an anime style. Two of the stories, 'Wyrd Sisters' and 'Soul Music' were animated back in the 90s, and have recently been released on DVD (v. pretty box-set I can't justify buying). With the right director, an anime take on Terry Pratchett's Discworld series could likely turn out pretty well (...rather off the wall, but that's nothing new for anime.)

Hmm, you could have a point there. With Gaiman's other stuff, I wonder what 'Sandman' would end up like?Neil Giaman's American Gods[/u], True it's a Book that is all about the U.S, but I think the imagery and characters would fit right in as really good disturbing anime.
It is complex, sickeningly clever (Gaiman is a twisted genius, I swear...) with profound ideas within a great story and well-defined characters. On the other hand, it is a graphic novel originally, and has its own style.

I would so like to see the Magic, the Gathering books turned into an animated series, especially the oddessy and onslaught cycle. Those would be quite an interesting fantasy story to watch.
Why do people complain about things? Why can't they just be happy that they were made for them?
I respect everyone's right to not like something, but complaining about it will acomplish nothing...

They should make it into an anime series so it is more accurate to the book. I mean, that is one of the biggest complaints readers of the book have, so why not make it animated, and accuarate?older_gohan wrote:It's bad enough we have to deal with the movies, must we have to see them as a anime?
