They already showed kenshin on CN back home, and it wasn't that bad, although the censorship got to me at times. During the Kenshin-Saito fight, they simply cut out the part where Saito (nearly) stabs kenshin in mid air... you can eben hear the jump in the music...
*spoilers, iguess*
As for when shishio dies, I found it pretty funny, cause they cut out all the parts where he was shown on fire. So everyone's watching, saying things like "look, he's on fire!" but do we see any of it? No.

I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Seriously?!? That's a very important part of the fight. It show that well...Kenshin sucks (hence the extra training, etc.). why do any of ya'll give one good penny about Cartoon Network anyway? Who cares what they do? What censoring? the regular series, if you actually watched it, didn't have anything to censor. It's the OVAs they won't show and maybe, some of the slash scenes beginning with Saitoh through to the end of episode 61.

I care because it means a lot of fans out there will watch a (IMHO) crappy version. Shouldn't we want people to see the best possible version?why do any of ya'll give one good penny about Cartoon Network anyway? Who cares what they do?
Actually I have watched the entire show (since you're implying we have not), there are many questionable scenes. What censoring? the regular series, if you actually watched it, didn't have anything to censor.
SPOILERS AHEAD
1) Anji's family is murdered in a fire.
2) Soujirou murders his entire family (while smiling).
3) Shishio is set on fire (twice).
4) Numerous people Saitoh kills (one through the back of the head IIRC).
5) Kamatari is a cross-dresser.
6) Raijuta's (whom I hate) entire army is shot to death.
7) Aoshi's Oniwabanshu are murdered by the Gatling gun.
Should I continue? All of these are very pertinent to the story and to remove these things is to essentially, remove the story. Can you imagine having Soujirou just this happy guy and not explain his past? Or explain Aoshi's motivations to want to become the strongest? I can't even imagine an ending where Shishio...lives.

Ok first off you didn't read my post. 5 out of the 7 instances you named were include in my exceptions. I said when Saitoh - episode 61. I wasn't getting into great detail. The only one I did forget is your number 7. I'd question number 6 cause I don't remember seeing any blood, but I don't go back and watch episodes I didn't care for.dwchang wrote:still shouldn't care.why do any of ya'll give one good penny about Cartoon Network anyway? My initial point was that the series is not as bloody as the OVAs. Also your number 5 doesn't make any sense since they have shows on primetime with gays as stars. They could get into legal trouble if they censor something cause it has mention of a gay character. And if they have, for whoever already saw it on CN, then all they need to an activist group to go after them. Then again, it's anime and isn't that big of a deal to the majority of americans. Right now, the war is.

I think you are missing the point of this thread. Regardless, your original post said "slashes" these are all instances of "non-slashes." You should be more specific or rather specify things differently. You already were specific when mentioned Saitoh and somewhat already categorized the questionable scenes as "sword violence." These are all instances of non-sword violence that is very pertinent to the overall story of Kenshin, hence the need for examples.Ok first off you didn't read my post. 5 out of the 7 instances you named were include in my exceptions. Your point as initially stated in your initial post:
Was "who cares? what censoring?" Well...I care. That was the point of my retort.why do any of ya'll give one good penny about Cartoon Network anyway? Who cares what they do? As for Kamatari, Kenshin isn't being shown on Primetime. It's being shown on Toonami (which is for kids). IIRC, in Outlaw Star, they didn't make Fred (Gene's friend) gay. Anyone who has seen Outlaw Star (unedited) knows Fred is...very friendly with Gene. This was taken out of Outlaw Star and thankfully didn't effect it too much. To make Kamatari a female is to take away her/his motivations and entire character. I think they *will* take out Kamatari's cross-dressing since it's not PC. Hell, they even took out drinking in Tenchi. I think drinking is a lot more acceptable than Gays or crossdressing in our culture.
