Just out of curiosity here, not out to start a flamewar, but what did you not like about it? I like the manga a lot, and I felt that the changes from the manga to the anime were perhaps more than strictly needed (an opinion shared by the author).
Well, I haven't really looked at the manga all that much, I guess I don't really want to give it a chance because of my opinions on the anime. First reason, characters. Not all of them, but the one that always comes to mind is Miki (getting ill at the thought of her). I thought that all of the situations she had been through would build her up, make her a stronger person emotionally. If something would happen later in the series, she would just hold her head high and live through it. But that never happened. She let EVERYONE take advantage of her, even Suzu (who's suppose to be younger than her), while she just sat around and ('cuse me for saying this) shit her panties.
Numero Dos: Miki and Yuu's "relationship". If they were so confident in their feelings for each other, then why did they always question those feelings? Why did Miki always question Yuu's faithfulness when she knew how faithful he was? And WHY did Miki have to get infatuated with just about every guy she knew when she already had Yuu to begin with? "Kei is such a jerk, trying to take advantage of me! But, oooh. He can play the piano. I think I'm in love." That's pretty much how it was.
Third reason: Season Three. Trying to ride on the popularity the series had gained them, Toei stretched it out to a third season. Unfortunately, the writers had the characters get into stupid situations to drag the series longer, which didn't result in good storytelling at all.
Other minor reasons: Background music, Suzu's total change in motives from the manga, the characters taking cross continental flights so EASILY (if they're so rich to afford at least three airline trips from Japan to NYC and back, why can't they buy something useful?
) The situations were never handled realistically, and the fact that Toei animated it didn't help either.
The only reasons I watched the whole series was, 1. Ginta and Arimi, the only couple I really liked, that and I always thought that's were Sadamoto-san got his idea for Rei Ayanami's character design. 2. Had the effects of a soap opera. You know it's bad, but you have to find out how it wraps up.
If you really did enjoy this series, hey, to each their own, but I just had to put in my buck and a quarter.
Probably too busy to be here right now.
