Geez, I agree about those two as well. Best part of EVA was the ending credits.

Gotta add Dragonball Z to the list as well. Liked the original DB for the humor, but Z just killed the show for me.

Shows I can't sit through 3 minutes of:
DBZ- repetitive, stupid
Pokemon, Digimon, Card Captors, etc- these make no sense and are too immature for me.

Just out of curiosity here, not out to start a flamewar, but what did you not like about it? I like the manga a lot, and I felt that the changes from the manga to the anime were perhaps more than strictly needed (an opinion shared by the author).

I think it's time for someone to stand up for DBZ: it rocks. Subbed, at least--after watching one ep on Cartoon Network I think my brain started bleeding. There's so much lost when the voice actors change. But I dunno... I tend to be a bit more violent than most females and many males which I know. I'm probably the only girl in existence to find DBZ "cute." (I mean, come on--Vegeta is forced into wearing a pink shirt once... PINK... how can you beat that for traumatizing a character?)

With that said, one of the animes I dislike is Kare Kano. Sorry, it was good for the first three eps and then again towards the end... but it just got so repetitive. The difference between its repetitive nature and DBZ's is that DBZ keeps moving along in the plot. Yes, it gets predictable after a while. But there is action, and things change enough that, though I have to take breaks between sagas, I can go back to it with renewed eyes. Kare Kano, meanwhile, spends half of each ep reminding people of what happens within the first two episodes.

*shrug* I have no hatred towards any anime, really, though Love Hina scarred me to no end. Oh, and I distinctly did not like the Escaflowne movie. The series wasn't bad--I just hate it when the movies go back and completely change almost everything about who everyone is... Feel free to debate that one, though.

Well, I haven't really looked at the manga all that much, I guess I don't really want to give it a chance because of my opinions on the anime. First reason, characters. Not all of them, but the one that always comes to mind is Miki (getting ill at the thought of her). I thought that all of the situations she had been through would build her up, make her a stronger person emotionally. If something would happen later in the series, she would just hold her head high and live through it. But that never happened. She let EVERYONE take advantage of her, even Suzu (who's suppose to be younger than her), while she just sat around and ('cuse me for saying this) shit her panties.

Numero Dos: Miki and Yuu's "relationship". If they were so confident in their feelings for each other, then why did they always question those feelings? Why did Miki always question Yuu's faithfulness when she knew how faithful he was? And WHY did Miki have to get infatuated with just about every guy she knew when she already had Yuu to begin with? "Kei is such a jerk, trying to take advantage of me! But, oooh. He can play the piano. I think I'm in love." That's pretty much how it was.

Third reason: Season Three. Trying to ride on the popularity the series had gained them, Toei stretched it out to a third season. Unfortunately, the writers had the characters get into stupid situations to drag the series longer, which didn't result in good storytelling at all.

Other minor reasons: Background music, Suzu's total change in motives from the manga, the characters taking cross continental flights so EASILY (if they're so rich to afford at least three airline trips from Japan to NYC and back, why can't they buy something useful? ) The situations were never handled realistically, and the fact that Toei animated it didn't help either.

The only reasons I watched the whole series was, 1. Ginta and Arimi, the only couple I really liked, that and I always thought that's were Sadamoto-san got his idea for Rei Ayanami's character design. 2. Had the effects of a soap opera. You know it's bad, but you have to find out how it wraps up.

If you really did enjoy this series, hey, to each their own, but I just had to put in my buck and a quarter.

Seems reasonable; I was just curious. What I don't like is people who just spurt out that they dislike or like XYZ without any reason, but you're clearly not one of those people. Sounds like more reasons for me not to watch any of the anime ^_^

Most of the problems you mention are entirely absent from the manga.

I could write a few pages on how much I hate Eva, but I'd probably get bored half way through (like what happened to me with the series) ;)

Jeebus!

You know what?

I really hate hate threads more than anything.

Really. They make me sick. If you guys are supposed to be anime fans, I wonder what the haters are like...

It's not that I'm against you stating opinions, but hey - I think these things are pretty divisive and often pretty bitter.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Just because we are "anime fans" doesn't mean that we have to love EVERY anime ever made.

True, I dislike irrational hatred, but what I dislike more is the "You're not a TRUE FAN if you don't think that every cel ever painted is SACRED" mindset.

I'm under no obligation to like anything. If I have to like everything to be a "fan," then I'm not a fan.
