And here I was, thinking people play RPG's because they just want a temporary escape from their daily routine.Nestorath69 wrote:ANY Console RPG. After all, it's just you and the console, absorbing the digital facade or existence while you Discover how to level up your character. How can you interact with society if you have no social skills?
Loads of people drink alcohol, but that doesn't make them all alcoholics.

If someone is that hooked onto RPG, well then thats pretty scary, i myself like RPG because it is nice to pretend to be someone else for a change, but that dont mean im a freak, im still the same old person i was yesterday ... If someone starts to obsess about RPGs to a point that it affects their daily life, then that person need some serieous dose of reality ... But just as long as u kno that RPG is a fantasy world, then i guess its ok, and besides they are fun to play.... games are meant to be play but not meant to be obssessed about ...Nestorath69 wrote:ANY Console RPG. You wanna see the sorriest group of people? Don't look at bums, look at the people who LARP. Yuk. Where's the ability to interact with society, if they run around screaming "I'm an elf! I'm an elf!" What mentally stable and socially acceptable woman will accept THAT?
A large portion of my RPG angst comes from the fact that a friend of mine totally defined his existence through RPGs He could tell you how to max out your attacks in Symphony of the Night, or how to glitch Final Fantasy 10 so that each attack deals 99,999 damage, but put him in a real life situation, like a job interview, a business meeting, or even coordinating his lifestyle so that he could do LAUNDRY without his parent's help, and watch him buckle. He remarkably enough had a girlfriend at the time, though she was fat, poor, and had NO self esteem, and she told him, "Hey, (insert name here), let's have sex! and he said, "Hang on, let me finish levelling my character up."
Disgraceful.
Look at my sig! Look at it!
Well if u didnt like the tv-series of Love Hina, then u should give the manga a try because it is way better and i feel that it is a bit less repetative and more conclusive ...Darksyde wrote:Love Hina for me, it was very repetitive and some of the episodes had nothing to do with the story, it was like the anime was not going anywhere.
DragonBall Z had a lot of long boring moments, but I liked it for other stuff.

Yeah, I think most of us have come in contact with someone who has no life outside of their main obsession. There was this one fan girl I kept in contact with through e-mails, I first met her when I submitted a fan fic (my only fan fic) to her website. The main reason I kept in contact was because she was depressed a lot. I thought most of her depression came from the fact that not many people understood her because she was homosexual, but her biggest problem was that she had NO concept of the differences between fiction and reality. She was totally obsessed with the Sakura/Tomoyo pairing in Card Captor Sakura, and the way she acted, you'd think it was all she lived for. Sometimes I wonder what the hell she's up to, but since I'm dead to her, she is totally dead to me.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

Yeah I know, before I watched Love Hina, my friend told me that the manga is better than the anime and it is more conclusive, but sadly where I live, mangas are not available.Jonathan02us wrote:Well if u didnt like the tv-series of Love Hina, then u should give the manga a try because it is way better and i feel that it is a bit less repetative and more conclusive ...

Oh man that sucks that she is always depressed, its never good for anyone to be depressed for a very long time. I give u props that u kept talking to her and being a friend because some people who are depressed always need someone to talk to and vent to. Nice job ...DTJB wrote:Yeah, I think most of us have come in contact with someone who has no life outside of their main obsession.
