Old Robotech and Battle of the Planets episodes shown on Saturday mornings.

I saw very little robotech on when I was a kid, and it failed to "make me an otaku"... I loved it when it came back on CN.

My son brought home Ninja Scroll when he was in college, he warned me that there were some scenes I might not aprove of. I thought, well, how bad could it be, it's a cartoon, isn't it? Later..... ok, this isn't kids cartoons! :shock: Second one he brought home was Vampire Hunter D. I thought, this stuff is really pretty good. Then he brought home a copy of Evangelion, now I was hooked. Anime has themes and ideas that they just don't have in live movies. I have always been a scifi fan, this really puts that into movies. :D

My older borther brought home ninja scroll VHS from college, that he had borrowed from a friend. It was one one of my first.

Is voltron anime (cause i really can't remember anything except it was about 5 kids and some giant robots) I saw that back in '91, around 95 there was sailor moon i guess but didn't know what aniome was back then. i can say that rurouni kenshin definitely got me into the anime stuff. and i love it eversince.....

The first anime I saw was Akira when I was little. Not the best anime to start out with, but my brother was a big anime freak at the time and he wanted me to watch it. As I got older I started watching Sailor Moon and DBZ which made totally fall in love with anime and I started to explore anime other then what was on Toonami.

I saw akira pretty early on in my anime history, I had been told that it was the "greatest anime of all time". But I doubted that, and my brother who again delivered a vhs for my viewing pleasure had already seen it and said it wasn't that great. And after I saw it I felt the same.

My first anime was on Sci Fi Channel, Project A-Ko and Venus Wars (Old School anime ROCKS!), then my friend Leer showed me Ranma 1/2

Iguess it was seeing Neon Genesis Evangelion in Advanced Individual Training that got me hooked. Asuka Langley Soryu Forever :D

I first got into anime about god, maybe, 8 years ago? on SciFi channel theyd show something every saturday called the saturday anime. the first anime that got me into anime was Vampire Hunter D.

SciFi channel did it for me too. When I saw part of Armitage III on it the whole thing started to click... Shortly after I saw Venus Wars, which I loved. Then I rented it cuz I knew how bad scifi cut stuff up.(I recently saw it again and I didn't like it very much.) Then later A friend of mine somehow came upon a armitage III VHS, and I watched that. I loved it, and decided to start watching scifi every chance I could get to see more anime... (I didn't get scifi at MY house) My borther started bringing home VHS's from his friends like i said above. The order he borrowed them in was: akira, (this is when I saw armitage on TV and saw and rented venus wars.), Vampire hunter D, (this is when I saw armitage on VHS.), Ninja Scroll, Record of Lodoss War VHS boxed set. Record of Lodoss war is what sold me completely. *favorite anime* I have watched the complete OVA set about 7 times total. ~4 times stratight thru. After that I began really looking for anime, not just waiting for it to come to me. And I was "otakued".

I still haven't seen project A-ko (I caught a glimpse of it on scifi once, but that doesn't count.) or heroic legend of arislan, which where both advertised on the boxed set of ROLW. Then over time I discovered AMVs, Engel was my first (that I liked). Several years back.

I remember when i joined in 2002 (under a different username). This topic was OLD and POINTLESS and DONE TO DEATH when I joined; how do you think attitudes about this thread have changed with the passage of two years?

I dunno- but since there was one back in June, and september of last year, I'd like to think that opinioons are exactly the same.

I saw Superbook and Flying House when I was 3 or 4. the kid in the blue in Superbook acts EXACTLY like Ash from Pokemon. it's scary...

the 1st one i remember seeing was sailor moon, which was quite awhile back (think i was just starting grade school).

But the one i think that actually made me like anime was totoro.

yeah same here sailor moon was the first one i saw.........there was nothing else on cause it was 5 am lol then dbz come on after it so i liked them both. totoro was the one that got me.

same sailor moon was my fav show but i stopped wathcing it after a while and got in to anime again because Inuyasha. Hey does any one know in what other anime the person of the voice of kogome is? I cant put my finger on it.

The first anime I saw was Dragonball when I was about eight. I only know what it was now, when I think back on it. I only saw one episode at 6 am, and the only reason I remember it is because I stayed up all night. Incidentally, that was also my first experience with insomnia.

The first anime I saw knowing what it was, was Ninja Scroll and DBZ.

I really liked Voltron as a kid. Then in '01 I saw Evangelion.
However, I didn't get into "Anime" (i always liked cartoons anyway), until a guy at work wanted to watch Adult Swim while Inuyasha, Big O, and Cowboy Bebop were on. I still enjoy watching Inuyasha!
