How many people who hate DBZ have actually seen it uncut?

I wouldn't deny that DragonballZ has its' moments and aspects relating to growing up and difference in personalities of characters.
But do keep in mind that it's not exactly unique at that.
And, on the other hand, I could scold it endlessly for stretching this purpose forever into filler episodes and hours of powering up. Sure, if you're not seeing this character aspect you're talking about - you're missing the real point of the show. But then, if you're not seeing the hours of powering up, mindless violence and horribly stretched plotlines, you're probably blind. It's a fact - these things are there too, and are enough to turn lots of people off (me included). Sorry if I sound too harsh, but it's just that I could (rightly) compare it to watching a porn movie for its' plot or character development.
I think DB is quite watchable and amusing, but watching it for involving narrative and philosophical depth is deceiving yourself. So, if you are doing that - I say you got your reasons wrong.
And I wouldn't call the plot or character development ultra-outstanding. If you want deep characters - read Dostoyevsky. Or something.
But do keep in mind that it's not exactly unique at that.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Now what other anime has 12 episodes dedicated to powering up? THAT alone is pretty unique.Otohiko wrote:I wouldn't deny that DragonballZ has its' moments and aspects relating to growing up and difference in personalities of characters.

dbz is the marajana of anime. its the starter anime that gets a lot of fans hooked and wanting something else.

I Hear yah i think so to.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:I've seen it uncut but no matter how uncut it is, it still is a bad anime. Granted its not the worse anime out there but still is a plotless flop of an anime. Dragonball wasn't that bad because at least it had a story line that wasn't predictable. In Dragonball GT they tried to go back to the original formula but just couldn't stick with it.

Dragonball Z was only predictable to the extent of good winning over evil. Most of everything else wasn't that predictable. Trunks coming from the future? Did you really see that one coming? Supreme Kaio appearing on Earth? If you think the show was predictable in its characters and story your full of it. If you think it was predictable with regards to the good guys getting more powerful and then beating the bad guy, then yes, but that was the point; its the theme of struggling and fighting to overcome evil just like so many of the movies currently in the theaters. Its the formula for many hero stories; a feel good motivational show.
