Yeah, the movie was really rushed. The fights were pretty good, but the story was a tad confusing. Overall, I thought it was okay. I don't think it was horrible, nor do I think it's one of the better movies out there. As for the series, I really want to see that...kearlywi wrote:OMG the movie. I saw the movie right after it came out. I had no idea it was based off of an anime series when I saw it. The only reason I saw it was because Van (In the movie) looked like Serge from Chrono Cross, which peaked my curiousity. The movie's storyline was so rushed, confusing, and bad that it made the film one of the worst I've ever seen despite amazing animation, an amazing soundtrack, and very cool action scenes. I was dead set AGAINST watching the escaflowne series when I found out about it later, but after I had 2 friends very strongly recommend it, I saw it and I'm very happy I did.Reiji Nosferatu wrote:Well, I haven't seen the butchered form of Escaflowne on Fox (Thank God!) All I saw was the movie.
Whats gotta be the worst anime ever!?

I'm sure it did when I said it was boring. I know how favored those particular series are here but I don't like any of them. Its the honest truth. Even if Escaflowne isn't silly, that's not the only requirement for me. it's not that I only like action based dark anime. I like Ah my goddess, Ayashi no Ceres, Tenchi, and even SMJ. I'm not good at explaining myself at all, so I'm not gonna bother. I didn't say they were bad, I just said I didn't like them cause I found them boring. I like DBZ, but loads of people doing like them and I understand why, but that doesn't bother me.kearlywi wrote: Trust me I'm the last person to agree with everyone else. I'm just getting the vibe that you really didnt try these animes long enough. I've only heard one person who didnt like Inuyasha defend herself well, and she proved to me she had seen at least the whole first season of the show, in order. As far as love Hina, I guess calling it "boring" knocked me out of my chair a little. Its one of the highest energy animes I have ever seen. I've heard that a lot of people don't like it because its shonen and echi in places, but boring is a new one.
As far as taste goes, its ok to be different (of course). I looked at your profile page and you seem to like action based anime that is dark. You don't like sillyness. In that case I am slightly understanding of finding Inuyasha and FY boring. However Escaflowne is different. Escaflowne isn't a silly anime, its serious, well animated, and has very well done action scenes. It can be very dark in places too. Don't let the Mechs... *AHEM* "Guymelefs" allow you to think it is a cheesy or silly anime series (its far from it). Its one of the rare "Mech" animes I actually enjoy. HOWEVER, I will grant that it does get a little slow after ep 2 until about ep 18, then its an amazing anime from ep 18 on. Its a little slow in the middle but worth watching in order for character/storyline development.

People tend not to like things when they become very popular.......wierd concept, but its a fact!!! I admit to falling into that trap!!!
I find it amazing how adults critisize anime like Pokemon for being too "kiddy".
I understand as anime fans we tend to watch most genre of anime....heck, i used to watch Digimon for a while!!!....but honestly, why all the agro over anime that is aimed at kids or young teens!?!
What next? a 10yr old commenting on Patlabor being too complex?
well....just thought to add my view, instead of watching and silently seething!!!
p.s....DB/Z/GT RULEZ!!!.....dont ride the bandwagon!!!
