On the "why the bad shows are aired" topic:
I used to absolutely love CardCaptors. The show's concept and the action was fantastic (hey, I was freshly over Pokemon! Give me some slack!). Then I picked up a manga, read it and was like "Nanda?!" They completely changed the story! Then I started remembering the show (after it had been taken off the air (another thing I hate about the people who release anime on TV)) and came to the conclusion that it wasn't that great. I mostly blamed it on the dub and then tried to see CardCaptor Sakura, then came to the conclusion that it wasn't completely the dub's fault. I love the manga and the second movie, but the show is just... eh.
American TV seems to have a thing for long-running stories (hence soap operas, sitcoms, and those really stupid kid shows that don't have a continuing story, just independent episodes). That's probably one reason why they abandon the very good short stories. Another reason, I agree, is that they target kids and want the shows to be appropriate. So they BUTCHER what could be/once were good shows! I think they may be getting better about this (InuYasha and Kenshin) but I could be wrong...
One the "list of bad anime" topic:
I guess the CCS show could go on there, if not for it's very cute moments.
I remember when I first saw Serial Experiments Lain. I had convinced a couple of friends to see it with me, and by the end I was screaming "I swear! It won awards!" The show made no sense! Many weirdos "fell in love" with the main character, they rarely explained what was going on, there were gross points; you're left there sitting in a stupor with the words "What the hell?" spinning around in what's left of your brain.
There's a very.. underdeveloped series I know of called Himiko-Den, or Legend of Himiko. I swear, the best thing about it is the theme song. The script is lousy, the characters unbelievable, the animation's... ok I guess. It gives an adrenaline rush the first time, but when you look at it, no.
Shamanic Princess: better after a first watching. If you get that far.
On the GotF topid: THAT WAS NOT A BAD MOVIE! That was a touching and heartbreaking movie!
I don't have anything else to say.
