Kagome vs Kikyo... who would you pick?

Now in all honesty, I have to admit that I haven't read a great deal of the manga. (only through number 10). However, if the anime resembles the manga at all, I really have to disagree with you. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sayng that Kikyo never loved Inuyasha. I think she did love him at one point, and to some extent still does, even after her ressurection. However, I don't believe she ever felt the same depth of emotion that he felt for her.
Okay, let's look at specific examples. Kikyo was resurrected in episode 14, correct? She was very angry at Inuyasha, understandably as she believed that he was the one responsible for betraying and killing her. But she did learn later that it was not Inuyasha that killed her at all, but Naraku disguised as Inuyasha. But did she forgive him? No. In episode 23 she tried to take him to hell with her. She has appeared in countless episodes after that, and tried to kill him, or threatened to how many times? I can't even remmber, can you? I remember one episode she said that she still loved him true, but she also "loved her hatred."
There is a thin line between love and hate, so the saying goes. And in this case I think Kikyo has crossed it.
Inuyasha on the other hand, was sealed to a tree for 50 years by a person he thought was Kikyo. He was angry at first, but after learning of Naraku's deception, he quickly forgave Kikyo and set about trying to save her. At cost to his own life. This is true love, his depth of emotion must have been stronger than kikyo's. Otherwise why did a hanyou forgive what a "pure miko" could not?
Kagome on the other hand, really loves Inuyasha. Even after episode, is it 48? when he tells her he wants to go with Kikyo, she stays with him. Though he still continues to follow Kikyo, Kagome continues to follow him. Being rejected like that has got to really really hurt. But still she stays with him. This is also true love.
So that is why I think Inuyasha should go with Kagome. She loves him more truely than Kikyo perhaps ever did. And what's more, she's alive. Kikyo's time is over, it is time for her to rest. Inuyasha and Kagome all the way. ^_^

I understand the point you're trying to make reddouble-k, but you're missing a pivotal point. Kikyou died hating Inu Yasha, that hatred and betrayal was something that seeped into her very bones.
That hatred is so ingrained into her very being that it simply is not possible for her to let go of it, even if she wanted too. It's part of what is driving her on. Towards the beginning, she directs it at Inu Yasha in her confusion. Later on however, it shifts to Naraku where it belongs. Through it all, the hatred is there, and will always be there as long as she is "alive".
Inu Yasha was never in the same position as Kikyou. He never died. His feelings can change, Kikyou's cannot.

It looks like you have nothing more to say, so you counter that my arguement is "weak". Very mature.reddouble-k wrote:Weak Argument
Who is more inclined to forgive? The person who is alive with the potential for a second chance? Or the person who is dead and for who there can be no second chance?
Kikyou's hatred is as much a part of her as her love for Inu Yasha. And because it's part of what is driving her on, it's impossible for her to let go of it. That is how I interpreted the situation, you may interpret it differently. That's you're prerogative.

I understand what you mean. I mean, I can see where you are coming from and all...
I will make you a deal:
Lets agree to disagree...
for now...i still got more i just wanna go to bed now...I am soooo tired.
I still think Kikyo is in the way and just needs to stay dead already.
I still am here for more if ya want it! ^_^

I don't mind agreeing to disagree. Kikyou is an important character though and I'd like to see her involved in the final battle with Naraku, so I guess I can't agree that she should just "stay dead" either. She's no more in the way than any other character.
Obviously she serves a purpose, otherwise she wouldn't still be there. We'll just have to wait and see what Takahashi has planned for her.

Ok... I went through and counted up as best as I could, just for fun, and here are the results.
Kagome- 14
Kikyo- 4
Inbetween- 2
I'm sorrie I posted a topic about this, but I have to say that it has been very intresting and I think lots of people have had very good points. I, myself, who felt such a strong hate towards Kikyo has now seen that hate dimish somewhat because of what others have brought up. I now am enlightened to both veiw points. I still lean towards Kagome! I agree about never forgetting your first love; I'm just glad I'm not in a sitiuation like that... Well, I was and it sucked majorly! hehe! Anyone have anymore good points to bring up as to why they prefer one or the other, or neither feel free to keep posting! ^_^

Gah, I'm tired of all this "logical argument." Therefore, I've decided to take a new approach...

I have one more thing to say about this. I would much rather see Inuyasha with Lady Kaiedi than Kagome. Why? Because Inuyasha and Kagome always fight.
One afternoon:
Kagome: "I'm going home! Yu jerk!"
Inuyasha: "fine! See if I care"
[....]
Kagome: "I'm back!"
Anothere afternoon:
Kagome: "I'm going home! Yu jerk!"

Kagome: "I'm back!"
(Sigh) ANOTHER dull afternoon:
Kagome: "I'm going home! Yu jerk!"
Inuyasha: "fine! See if I care"
[....]
Kagome: "I'm back!"
I hate Kagome's personallity! Kikyo's is better.
Kikyo Forever more!
