I pointed out once in another forum Goku never beat Vegeta, and you would not believe the Goku fan boys that screamed their heads off. But it's true. Goku LOST to Vegeta in the Saiya-jin Saga. Gohan beat Vegeta.

And in the Majin Buu Saga, Vegeta knocked Goku out.

They never did fully settle that between themselves, but as far as I can see, in a stand up fight between them, with no interlopers involved (Kurrinin, Yamucha, Gohan, etc.), Vegeta would win.

I haven't watched GT, so I don't know anything about the true power of ssj4. I have seen through the Buu saga, though (what I consider the end of dbz).

My question - how could Vegeta beat Goku if he can't get to ssj3? When he fought him in the Buu saga, Goku was holding back to make it a more even fight. Are you going by the assumption that Goku wouldn't use ssj3 if he thought he were going to lose? And if he *did* stick to ssj2 so they were matched, can you really consider that a true battle?

If they don't fight at their full potential, I see it as exercise (sparring), not a true match.

Well, I don't count GT, since Akira Toriyama had nothing to do with it. It was totally done by Toei, based on Toriyama.

Although the Baby Saga was pretty cool. (The rest kind of, well it wasn't that great. I find Pan annoying as hell)

And Goku pointed out in his final battle with Buu that SSJ3 was just impossible to hold for long.

So, I still have to judge by what we've seen and so far, Goku never really ever beat Vegeta.

Oh, I know Goku never beat him (unless it was GT). I want to know how Vegeta could beat *Goku* in a match - when he doesn't have the ability to use ssj3.

Goku does say he can't hold it long, but he holds it for quite a while during that fight, off and on shifting from ssj to 3 and back again with short rests. Vegeta can't do it even for a minute, so the difference in power is definite.

For those who think Vegeta could beat Goku in a match, I want to know how? How do they get around the advantage Goku has in being able to go ssj3 (even if it's only for 15 minute increments)?
