Hey,

Well, I'm not the best at hand drawing, but I've recently taken a crack at it. I post all of my stuff on my site, so, if anyone's interested, there's a link below to my gallery. I hope you guys enjoy them 8-)

(and, if daring, comments are always welcome  )

none of that is actually bad, but i think you need some work with the sketch process. ive said it before, but i think it might benefit you if i say it again. a frame is essential for drawing proportionately. try it out, it might be goofy in the beginning but it starts working after you get used to it.

I've actually tried something like a frame of sorts in the past, however, in my opinion, all of my drawings that used that frame always ended up looking worse than the ones that didn't use one at all. I think it's because when using a framework I spend more time trying to fit the character to the frame than actually developing the character him/her self. But, in any case, thanks for the opinion :D

im not going to say you have to do something, but i beseech you to try frames again. i know theyre awkward and unwieldy in the beginning, but trust me, they help your art a lot. i used to share your beliefs, but i now never draw without the frame.

you'll usually only use a frame when drawing figures and people, but it can be adapted for other things too like scenery. ill just explain the character frames.

a character frame is just a guideline that you sketch before you even start drawing the person. you draw sticks for limbs and balls for joints. frames will vary but they all serve the same purpose: to allow the artist to judge proportion and poses before they get too far into the picture. the best way to fix mistakes is never to have them in the first place. this is a precautionary measure. if you draw around a properly constructed frame, you really shouldnt have any proportion problems and you can spot details of the pose you otherwise wouldnt want.
