My thoughts on some things:
G Gundam:
It's like the Dragonball of Gundam. It was worth one watch, but like DBZ, it got repetive FAST. Also, all the "I cannot be defeated, I'M IN MY SUPER MODE!!! :glows gold:" The one thing for me that made G Gundam interesting was the Devil Gundam.
Gundam Wing:
More fantasy like than the previous Gundams (except for G. GW is the second of the alternate universe series). Gundam Wing was enjoyable, much more so than G Gundam. Though, the fact that 15 year olds were in control of THE most powerful mobile suits wasn't exactly reasonable.
GW did have some philosophical bits(one that seemed interesting was, no matter how pacifist you are, you still can't stop war), but most of the battles did come off as invincible Gundam vs. Uh-oh we're already dead minions.
Now, don't get me wrong, I liked GW, but it wasn't to believeable at times. Endless Waltz was the best of GW. I like the redesigns in EW better, and contrary to popular belief, the Gundams were not rebuilt into the EW versions, that's just what the upgraded versions looked like. In fact the reason for this was a different designer handles the EW designs.
His name is Hajime Katoki, and even redesigned the first Gundams as well.
Go here, click on the first Gundams(the ones that don't have "Kai") and check the Hajime redesign bubble to see what the EW versions were upgraded from.
I wouldn't mind a remake of Wing with the Hajime Katoki designs, not at all.
Gundam 0080:
More or less glimpse into the effects war has on civilians, and how some people on the "bad" side can be good.
Gundam Original:
Now, I didn't see enough of this to really say, but it did have quite a realistic approach to mecha (it was quite revolutionary for its time). Now about the realistic damage, keep in mind this series is 20+ years old, and animation has really improved since then. If they were to remake it today, it would have damge and ruggedness equal to 08th MS Team.
08th MS Team:
I really liked this one. This series, so far, is the most rugged Gundam series (For example, showing how parts ahd to scavanged in the field, as shown by the beat up Zakus in that village episode). The damage was also done well in this, proving that the Gundams were still only prototypes and not invincible and could inncur damage just as easy as other mobile suits (Like when the Accuguy punches one of the Gundam's heads off)
Gundam 0083:
So far, my favorite series. Though old (and somewhat starting to show its age), 83 had a very good plot, still kept to the war ideals of the original Gundam, and still showed that Gundams were still vunerable to damage (they just had better armor and thrusters being prototypes)
Also, the designs were very good and the GP03 Dendrobium Mobile armor is one of the coolest Gundams ever.

A lot of what saved Gundam Wing was that it wasn't necessarly the suits that made the pilots a force to be reckoned with. These kids were freaking bad-ass.
Just look at some of the things they did without their Gundams. Heero himself broke into no less then four military bases during the series. Wufei blew up a good chunk of the Lake Victoria base by himself. Hell, even Quatre beat up an Aries pilot and stole his MS in a few seconds.
Can you imagine how that must have went. Seeing a little blond kid pull you out of your cockpit only to apologize before throwing you to the ground and taking your suit.

Well, Toonami did at least make an effort to show an "uncut" version, if anyone remembers that. Gotta give them credit on that.Charagon wrote:Hey, I'm just happy to be on a board with people who aren't so elitest that they feel the need to hate Wing because it was on Toonami.
